Tear down all buildings that are beyond repair and start<br />
with (Garbs?).<br />
Hold an open <strong>Kenosha</strong> event where the buildings are<br />
open and people are there to give the history. Milwaukee<br />
just had one – it was great.<br />
Rehab the Elks Club to include: 1. Ballroom. 2. Bed<br />
& Breakfast. 3. Culinary school. 4. Epicurian Center!<br />
Restore the <strong>Kenosha</strong> <strong>The</strong>atre – bring in people to see<br />
national acts.<br />
Partner with the Colleges to rehab some <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>Downtown</strong> buildings for housing. Living there could<br />
be part <strong>of</strong> an urban studies, urban ecology, anthropology<br />
program..<br />
Restore the <strong>Kenosha</strong> <strong>The</strong>ater for live entertainment.<br />
Save and restore the <strong>Kenosha</strong> theatre, built by Universal,<br />
and named after the City!<br />

Demolish decaying old buildings – replace with paved<br />
city square for festivals, etc.<br />
Watring building – put light on top (safety issue for<br />
helicopters), Turn into hotel or convention center with<br />
high-quality top floor restaurant, and grocery store plus<br />
small merchants on lower levels.<br />
Farmer’s market – if moved, put it in empty lot on 6th<br />
Ave.<br />
Public Museum – c<strong>of</strong>fee shop on second floor to get<br />
views <strong>of</strong> lake<br />
Prevent drag racing on 55th & 56th St.<br />
Trolley – runs empty so fill it with musicians, parties,<br />
special events, etc.; start earlier in the morning (6am)<br />
for commuters<br />

Get local landmark businesses to move to city – provide<br />

gathering area, seasonal event space<br />
Show movies at downtown theaters<br />
Lake Michigan Boardwalk (from Pennoyer Park to<br />
Eichelman Park) – close lakefront road in Pennoyer<br />
park; pedestrian bridge over harbor entrance to connect<br />
museum campus.<br />
Transporation – ferry service, expand trolley service to<br />
Carthage and Parkside<br />
Do not allow substandard housing to be developed<br />
within immediate area – more low cost, multi-unit<br />
housing developments aren’t needed. Whats up with<br />
YMCA.<br />
Connect with local businesses and others – connect with<br />
United Hospital, court house. Connect with Kemper<br />
Center and Anderson Art Center<br />
Alternative Entertainment Ideas – Merry-go-round<br />
(Chattanooga, TN), Old Fashion Train Ride or roller<br />
coaster, fishing hole for kids (not lake Michigan).<br />
Create marketing plan for <strong>Kenosha</strong> – target Chicago<br />
area residents<br />
