PIN2 The PIN2 code is supplied with some SIM cards. The PIN2 code is required to access certain<br />
functions supported by the SIM card. The length of the PIN2 code is 4 to 8 digits.<br />
POP3 Post office protocol, version 3. A common mail protocol that can be used for accessing your<br />
remote mailbox.<br />
SIP Session initiation protocol. SIP is used for creating, modifying, and terminating certain types<br />
of communication sessions with one or more participants.<br />
SSID Service set identifier. SSID is the name that identifies the specific wireless LAN.<br />
Streaming Streaming audio and video files means playing them directly from the web without<br />
downloading them first to your device.<br />
UMTS Universal mobile telecommunications system. UMTS is a 3G mobile communication system.<br />
Besides voice and data, UMTS enables audio and video delivery to wireless devices.<br />
UPIN PIN code used in UMTS network.<br />
USIM SIM card used in UMTS network.<br />
When you use your device in GSM and UMTS networks, multiple data connections can be active<br />
at the same time, and access points can share a data connection. In the UMTS network, data<br />
connections remain active during voice calls. You can, for example, browse the web faster<br />
than previously possible while simultaneously speaking on the phone.<br />
USSD command A service request, such as request to activate an application or configure various settings<br />
remotely, that you can send to your operator or service provider with your device.<br />
VoIP Voice over internet protocol technology. VoIP is a set of protocols that facilitate phone calls<br />
over an IP network, such as the internet.<br />
VPN Virtual private network. VPN creates a secure connection to compatible corporate intranet<br />
and services, such as e-mail.<br />
WAP Wireless application protocol. WAP is an international standard for wireless communication.<br />
WEP Wired equivalent privacy. WEP is an encryption method that encrypts data before it is<br />
transmitted in WLAN.<br />
WLAN Wireless local area network. A wireless LAN connection is established when you create a data<br />
connection using a wireless LAN internet access point. The active wireless LAN connection is<br />
ended when you end the data connection.<br />
If you move the device to another location within the wireless LAN and out of range of a<br />
wireless LAN access point, the roaming functionality can automatically connect your device<br />
to another access point that belongs to the same network. As long as you remain within range<br />
of access points that belong to the same network, your device can stay connected to the<br />
network.<br />
