Prior to any public announcement regarding IRONMAN, our Chamber began receiving<br />
unsolicited emails from local, regional, national and international people who strongly<br />
support our community’s bid.<br />

I am the Chairman <strong>of</strong> a Triathlon Club based in Ireland and I would like to encourage you and<br />
your council to support efforts to stage an Ironman event in <strong>Hilton</strong> <strong>Head</strong>. I have taken part in<br />
several Ironman Events including races in Mallorca (Spain), St Poelten (Austria) and Galway (Ireland)-<br />
each year our club organises an “away “ trip to an Ironman event. I coincidentally have<br />
also taken part in two Beach Bum Triathlons in <strong>Hilton</strong> <strong>Head</strong>, though have yet to get a coveted<br />
coconut prize! In 2008 25 members <strong>of</strong> our club entered the NYC Triathlon. <strong>Hilton</strong> <strong>Head</strong> is very<br />
accessible from Ireland with a Delta flight to Atlanta and then a short hop to HH Airport.<br />
I know I would certainly travel from Ireland with my family to do an event in <strong>Hilton</strong> <strong>Head</strong>, and<br />
probably incorporate it as a family vacation. We have stayed in Palmetto Dunes on 2 occasions.<br />
I feel the venue would also encourage fellow club members and Irish triathletes to travel. There<br />
would undoubtedly be strong economic advantages to the <strong>Island</strong> in having a race. Best wishes<br />
in considering this venture.<br />

I am writing in enthusiastic support for bringing Ironman to <strong>Hilton</strong> <strong>Head</strong> <strong>Island</strong>! It will enable us<br />
to leverage two powerful brands (HHI and Ironman) to attract a new demographic to the <strong>Island</strong>.<br />
Competitors come for long weekends, bring their families and spend significant dollars. (The<br />
Augusta Half Ironman is an excellent example. Please contact your counterparts there for more<br />
information.) The race would also enhance our reputation as a healthy vacation destination and<br />
support our goal <strong>of</strong> be coming a top-ranked cycling town. Thank you for all you do on our behalf.<br />

I am in complete support <strong>of</strong> an Ironman event coming to HHI. These events bring a tremendous<br />
business opportunity in the communities in which Ironman events have occurred. If HHI becomes<br />
