Summary <strong>of</strong> Services:<br />

Protecting a population <strong>of</strong> approximately 35,000 full time residents and 24 million visitors yearly, the<br />

Division <strong>of</strong> Emergency Management works daily at preparing both our <strong>Town</strong> and our citizens to meet<br />

safety challenges through planning, training, exercising and public education. <strong>Hilton</strong> <strong>Head</strong> <strong>Island</strong> Fire &<br />

Rescue was named as one <strong>of</strong> three outstanding communities by the International Association <strong>of</strong> Fire<br />

Chiefs with their Heart Safe Community award in 2010. Seven fire stations are served by an enhanced 911<br />

communications dispatch center.<br />
