beaten severely and several <strong>report</strong>s have reached ICT of individuals who participated<br />

in <strong>the</strong> Machu protest being tortured in custody. The same is true <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> situation at<br />

Labrang (fur<strong>the</strong>r details below).<br />

<strong>Tibet</strong>an deaths in <strong>the</strong> crackdown since March<br />

The following <strong>Tibet</strong>ans died in <strong>the</strong> crackdown following <strong>the</strong> protests across <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Tibet</strong>an plateau. ICT does not have a comprehensive list of <strong>the</strong> names of people who<br />

died in <strong>the</strong> suppression following <strong>the</strong> protests due to China’s in<strong>for</strong>mation blackout on<br />

<strong>the</strong> plateau. ICT has received numerous <strong>report</strong>s of bodies of <strong>Tibet</strong>ans who were killed<br />

being taken away from families, or from <strong>the</strong> scene of <strong>the</strong> death, in order to hide <strong>the</strong><br />

evidence.<br />

• Tashi Tsering, from Bha in Xining in Qinghai was a businessman in Lhasa, who died<br />

in <strong>the</strong> Lhasa protests.<br />
