The tall ships
come to Mariehamn
Cruise Mariehamn, 23–26 th July, is organised in connection with the
Tall Ships Race between Århus, Denmark and Szczecin, Poland. As the
boats cruise together between Kotka and Stockholm many of them
call at the beautiful maritime town of Mariehamn. This three-day
event provides the opportunity to see some of the world’s most beautiful
tall ships with entertainment for the public and crews alike.
From ‘skut’ race
to pirate party
A mix of happy camaraderie and maritime activities characterise
the Åland Sea Days, a popular event for the whole family
with free admission every day. This regatta for traditional
sailing boats begins proceedings in the archipelago village of
Degerby. From here the boats race to towards the Maritime
Quarter in Mariehamn. Here five pleasurable days of maritime
activities, handicrafts, good food and drink await. For
the children there are a host of activities including a pirate
adventure. The evenings bring dancing and music of all varieties
under the coloured lights.
