MINUTES OF THE SYNOD OF THE
The Committees on Records of Presbyteries reported.
The records of Rochester Presbytery and of the Presbytery
in China were not present. The reports were all
adopted and the proper entries made in the various record
books.
Synod took recess until 1:30 p. m., prayer by Elder
W. M. McDonald.
TUESDAY AFTERNOON, JUNE 12, 1928.
Synod reconvened at the appointed hour, was called to
order by the Moderator, opened with a verse of the 100th
Psalm and prayer by E. A. Crooks. The Minutes of the
morning session were read and approved.
The report of the Committee on Finance was read
by H. G. Foster, amended and adopted as a whole. In
accordance with Item 2, the Clerk cast the unanimous
ballot of Synod for James S. Tibby, J. H. McBurney and T.
H. Boyd to be their own successors on Synod's Board of
Trustees for the term beginning June 15, 1928 and ending
June 15, 1931. The report is as follows:
REPORT OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE.
The Committee on Finance would respectfully report:
Thirteen papers have been placed in our hands, which are:
Three papers on Foreign Missions; Report of the Trustees of
Synod; Report of the Board of Church Erection; Report of
Mission of the Covenant; Report of the Reformed Presbyterian
Woman's Association; Olive Trees account, Literary Fund
account, Report of Board of Control; Memorial from Ohio
Presbytery; and a bill for a telegram.
The following are the recommendations:
I. That the treasurers' reports of Trustees of Synod,
Board of Church Erection, Mission of Covenant, Women's Association,
Olive Trees, Literary fund, Board of Control, Foreign
Missions, be approved together with the auditor's certificates
which accompany these reports and be published in the Minutes
of Synod.
II. That the clerk be instructed to cast a unanimous ballot
for T. H. Boyd, James H. McBurney, and James S. Tibby,
as their own successors on Synod's Board of Trustees.
III. That D. B. Martin and J. T. Hensleigh be elected their
own successors on the Board of Control.
IV. That T. M. Slater, F. L. Stewart, R. J. Bole, and
Joseph M. Steele, be elected their own successors on the Board
of Church Erection.
V. That the bequest of Mrs. Mary Adams Buxton,
amounting to $2,663.87, be paid into Synod's Budget.
VI. That the deficit of $272.42 in the printing and sale of
1927 Minutes of Synod be paid out of the Literary Fund.
