44 MINUTES OF THE SYNOD OF THE
SATURDAY FORENOON, JUNE 9, 1928.
Synod met at the appointed time, was called to order
by the Moderator, and by him constituted with prayer.
The alphabetic roll was called.
Devotional exercises were led by Remo I. Robb.
The minutes of the preceding session were read and
approved.
The offering for Synod's expenses was lifted, amounting
to $71.13.
The report of the special committee on Young People's
Work and Home Resources was submitted by J. Boyd
Tweed and taken up item by item. After prolonged discussion,
the report was left in the hands of the Committee
for Revision.
The Synod was addressed by Samuel R. Boggs on the
subject of Lay Evangelism.
As previously arranged, Synod engaged in a memorial
service for Dr. R. C. Reed at the hour of the funeral service
in Pittsburgh. H. G. Patterson presided.. A. A.
Wylie led in prayer. Elder W. S. Wilson of Old Bethel, Mr.
Reed's first charge, and F. M. Foster paid tribute to the
life and character of Dr. Reed. The service was closed
with prayer by E. L. McKnight.
Synfid adjourned with prayer by D. C. Mathews, to
meet at 9:00 a. m. Monday.
MONDAY FORENOON, JUNE 11, 1928.
. Synod met according to adjournment, was called to
order by the Moderator and constituted with prayer by
Walter McCarroll.
The roll was called.
Devotional exercises were led by Elder Robert Dill.
The minutes of the Saturday forenoon session were
read and approved.
The Committee on Traveling Fund was instructed to
pay the traveling expenses of J. Campbell White and S R
Boggs.
It was resolved to take an offering for the China
Famine Relief Fund in connection with the devotional service
tomorrow morning.
