Haapsalu College is a regional college of Tallinn University, one of the largest
universities in Estonia. The College is situated on the western coast of Estonia and
provides higher education (MA level and professional higher education) in various
regionally important fields: ICT, teacher training, health management, traffic safety
and also handicraft technologies and design.
Describtion of
organisation:
Offering professional higher education in the field of handicraft and product design
in the Western region of Estonia supports the socioeconomic development of the
region.
The field of handicraft is also one of the region’s priorities in the joint development
of local vocational and higher education.
The goal of the curriculum is to create possibilities for the development of creative
and successful craftsmen who would rely in their work on native culture and
traditional techniques as well as be sensitive to the possibilities of design for the
surrounding environment.
The curriculum in Haapsalu College is supported by suitable mental and physical
environments: existing and expanding network of handicrafts experts and initiators;
suitable laboratories for practical work.
