E. APPLICATION FOR LEAVE OF ABSENCE STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS The Local Government Meeting Procedures Regulations 2005 section 39 outlines the requirement for Councillors in relation to a leave of absence. The regulations state 1) A councillor, or the mayor on behalf of a councillor, may request leave of absence in respect of one or more meetings. 2) A council may decide to grant a request for leave of absence. 3) Leave must not be granted retrospectively. 4) The purpose of the leave and the period involved are to be recorded in the minutes. - 7 - Ordinary Council Meeting – 18 January 2011
