in mind the fact that Grubs
advertises its food as “bad”
for you. Multiple people
stated that Grubs was not
the cleanest place to dine
at and that it didn’t seem
like the place was taken
good care of. Another huge
negative comment was that
Grubs is way too small and
crowded. All of the tables
are too close together and
the people dining feel like
they don’t have any privacy
within their own conversations.
One person stated
that she and her group
of friends went to Grubs
for dinner, and one of the
waitresses completely
forgot to bring out one of
her friend’s meals. Another
review, was a very interesting
one – a person stated
that in the middle of her
meal, one of Grub’s security
guards came up to her and
told her that she and her
friends had to pay a cover
to stay because a big boxing
match was airing soon on
television. She mentioned
that there was no warning
of this when she first came
into the restaurant.
Kelsey Bryner, 21,
and an IUP dance major
from Reading, is a former
Grubs waitress, bartender
and shot girl. She has many
different opinions on this
restaurant, mostly negative.
To start, Kelsey said
that she wishes that she
never would have worked
there in the first place, and
that she was not fond of the
management at all.
“As a shot girl, I
felt like my only job was to
get yelled at,” said Kelsey.
Although she enjoyed a lot
of the food that was served
there, she said most of the
food has “zero health value.”
Another negative that
Kelsey stressed was that it
was always way too crowded
and that on holidays it
got out of control. She also
said that the restaurant
never seemed to be as clean
as it should be. Kelsey
concluded by saying that
although she made many
friends during her time at
Grubs, she would never go
back, not even to eat. If

Valley Dairy, located
at 1584 Oakland Avenue,
also had multiple negative
reviews. Although the
prices are cheap there, they
do not have many “platter”
type meals, which means
that a person cannot order a
burger and fries as one meal;
instead, you have to order
them separately.
