joins <strong>Bengals</strong> for ’09 as a free agent … Has earned<br />

recognition as one of the NFL’s most powerful hitters<br />

to 2008 season, when he was limited to three games<br />

by the fi rst signifi cant injury (forearm fracture) of his<br />

pro career … Though best known for his physical play,<br />

he also has 20 career interceptions (including one in<br />

REUNITED: With the <strong>Bengals</strong>, Williams will work<br />

again with defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer. Coordinator<br />

in Dallas for Williams’ fi rst fi ve seasons, Zimmer is in<br />

his second year as <strong>Bengals</strong> defensive chief. “Roy had his<br />

best years when we were together in Dallas,” Zimmer says,<br />

“and I think we can take advantage of all his strengths in<br />

our scheme.”<br />

2008 RECAP: Played in Games 1-2, but suffered<br />

forearm fracture in Game 2, Sept. 15 vs. Philadelphia<br />

… Missed the next four games, and reinjured the<br />

forearm when he attempted to return to action on Oct.<br />

19 at St. Louis … Was placed on Reserve/Injured list<br />

on Oct. 22.<br />

and he was also named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year<br />
