Division II “Heisman” — Scott brings huge numbers to<br />

his NFL roster bid … Posted back-to-back 2000-yard<br />

rushing efforts in his two seasons at Abilene Christian,<br />

scoring a mind-boggling 73 touchdowns … Helped 11-1<br />

ACU go two games deep in the playoffs as a senior, and<br />

over those 12 games he averaged 179.7 rushing yards,<br />

with three games over 250 and a season-low of 116 …<br />

Averaged 8.6 yards per carry as a junior (251-for-2165)<br />

and averaged 8.1 yards as a senior 266-2156) … Compact<br />

runner who can break tackles, and has shown exceptional<br />

instincts in traffi c.<br />

COACH JIM ANDERSON SAYS: “Bernard has<br />

dominated the competition wherever he’s been in football.<br />

He has busted his tail to get this opportunity, after going<br />

through some troubles as a younger guy. He’s a good<br />

person and just a really good player, and I’m confident<br />

he’s going to do all the things we need for him to be the<br />

very best player he can be.”<br />

MAKING HIS POINTS: In just two seasons at<br />

Abilene Christian, Scott scored 438 points, climbing to<br />

second place on the Lone Star Conference’s all-time list.<br />

The only player to top him, with 458 points, was another<br />

Abilene player, Wilbert Montgomery, who played four<br />

seasons (1973-76). Montgomery went on to play nine NFL<br />

seasons, mostly with Philadelphia, posting 6789 career<br />

rushing and 2502 career receiving yards.<br />

posting school-record 4321 rushing yards and 5712<br />

all-purpose yards … Set 12 Lone Star Conference records<br />

at Central Arkansas in 2004, and played at Blinn JC in<br />

Brenham, Texas, in 2006 … Did not play football in 2005,<br />

in all 12 contests … Led Wildcats to just the second perfect<br />

regular season (10-0) in program history, and to school’s<br />

fi rst LSC championship since 1973 … Team fi nished<br />

11-1, with loss in second round of playoffs … Averaged<br />

233 rushing yards in five games against nationally-ranked<br />

opponents … Scored a Division II record of seven TDs on<br />

Nov. 22 vs. West Texas A&M. 2007—Set LSC rushing<br />

record with 2165 yards, and set Division II season records<br />

with 39 TDs and 234 points … Led ACU to 9-3 record,<br />

including two postseason games … In earning the first of<br />

two straight first-team All-America nods, he became the<br />

first ACU All-American RB since Wilbert Montgomery in<br />

1973 … Rushed for career-high and school-record 303<br />

yards in triple overtime playoff loss on Nov. 24 at Chadron<br />

State. 2006—Helped lead Blinn JC (Brenham, Texas) to a<br />

12-0 season and NJCAA national title … Finished his only<br />

JC season with 1892 rushing yards, first in the nation …<br />

Earned MVP honors in national title game with 193 rushing<br />

yards. 2005—Did not play football. 2004—Played for<br />

Central Arkansas, and was named Gulf South Conference<br />

Freshman of the Year after rushing for 1026 yards …<br />

His offensive coordinator was current Abilene Christian<br />

coordinator Ken Collums, and his offensive line coach<br />

was current ACU head coach Chris Thomsen.<br />

HIGH SCHOOL: As a junior at Vernon (Texas) HS<br />

in 2001, rushed for 2424 yards and 19 TDs in 13 games,<br />

earning Class 3A all-state honors … Graduated from<br />

Wichita Falls (Texas) High School in 2003.<br />
