• z Regular liaison with Prevocational Trainees and Term Supervisors<br />

• z Liaison with Attending Medical Officers, the General Manager and administrative staff as<br />

required.<br />

Key roles and responsibilities<br />

The role of the Director of Prevocational Education and Training is to direct the education and<br />

<strong>training</strong> of <strong>prevocational</strong> <strong>medical</strong> trainees in the hospital. In per<strong>for</strong>ming this role, the fundamental<br />

responsibility of the Director of Prevocational Education and Training is to ensure patient safety at all<br />

times.<br />

Specific responsibilities of the role:<br />

1 Ensuring that the <strong>principles</strong> of <strong>prevocational</strong> education and <strong>training</strong> are attained by:<br />

supporting a culture of professional development<br />

providing a structured education program and evaluating its effectiveness<br />

association with JMO staff management and the General Clinical Training Committee<br />

providing fair and transparent term allocations and workload<br />

providing effective term and hospital orientation<br />

overseeing ongoing and constructive assessment and feedback processes<br />

identifying and supporting trainees with special needs<br />

providing <strong>for</strong> adequate and appropriate supervision<br />

providing adequate education and in<strong>for</strong>mation resources<br />

assisting the hospital in maintaining its accreditation status with <strong>HETI</strong><br />

participating in the education of <strong>prevocational</strong> trainees<br />

promoting professional responsibility and ethics among <strong>prevocational</strong> trainees<br />

being a resource <strong>for</strong> clinical teachers.<br />

2 Looking after the personal and professional welfare of <strong>prevocational</strong> trainees, particularly those<br />

experiencing difficulties.<br />
