How is the International Foundation<br />

programme validated and recognised?<br />

It is validated and quality assured by the <strong>University</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>East</strong> <strong>Anglia</strong>. Successful completion <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Foundation programme leads to the award <strong>of</strong> a<br />

<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>East</strong> <strong>Anglia</strong> International Foundation<br />

Certificate (National Qualification Framework Level<br />

3), welcomed by high-ranking UK universities.<br />

Key features<br />

Academic content<br />

Around two thirds <strong>of</strong> the programme is devoted to<br />

academic content. The choice <strong>of</strong> modules relates<br />

directly to the pathway chosen and your proposed<br />

degree programme.<br />

English language support and<br />

study skills<br />

Academic English takes up the remaining<br />

third <strong>of</strong> the programme. This module covers<br />

reading, writing, listening and speaking and<br />

is internally assessed.<br />

You will also receive help in developing the<br />

essential skills needed for university study, such<br />

as how to work in groups, present ideas, manage<br />

your time, conduct research, make lecture notes,<br />

organise the content <strong>of</strong> essays and dissertations<br />

and understand how to evaluate your own work.<br />

Academic guidance<br />

You will receive support on personal and<br />

academic issues, including advice on your<br />

studies and career plans. We also have an<br />

International Progression Officer who will help<br />

you with your application to <strong>UEA</strong> <strong>London</strong> and<br />

other leading UK universities.<br />

Preparing you for entry to a choice<br />

<strong>of</strong> leading UK universities<br />

The International Foundation is widely recognised<br />

by UK universities. Successful completion, subject<br />

to meeting the requirements for direct entry, <strong>of</strong>fers<br />

you guaranteed progression to a relevant<br />

undergraduate degree at a UK university.<br />

Since INTO <strong>UEA</strong> <strong>London</strong> opened students<br />

who completed an International Foundation<br />

programme at <strong>UEA</strong> <strong>London</strong> have progressed<br />

to over 80 UK universities, including many<br />

prestigious universities ranked in the top 30<br />

in the UK.<br />

Progression to <strong>UEA</strong> <strong>London</strong><br />

Students who successfully complete the<br />

International Foundation programme (subject<br />

to meeting the specified course requirements)<br />

are guaranteed progression onto the first year<br />

<strong>of</strong> the International Business Management<br />

degree <strong>of</strong>fered exclusively at <strong>UEA</strong> <strong>London</strong>.<br />

In order to progress to year one <strong>of</strong> the BSc<br />

International Business Management degree you<br />

will need to pass the International Foundation<br />

programme and achieve a minimum average <strong>of</strong><br />

65% across all modules, with a minimum <strong>of</strong> 60%<br />

in the Foundation Mathematics module. In<br />

addition you will also need to achieve 65% in<br />

the internal English language assessment.<br />

Progression to the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>East</strong> <strong>Anglia</strong><br />

Successful completion also <strong>of</strong>fers guaranteed<br />

progression onto the first year <strong>of</strong> a relevant<br />

undergraduate degree programme at the<br />

<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>East</strong> <strong>Anglia</strong>’s campus in Norwich.<br />

Academic requirements<br />

Completion <strong>of</strong> 12 years <strong>of</strong> schooling (or the local<br />

equivalent to meet the same standard) with good grades<br />

English language entry requirement<br />

Four term: IELTS 4.0 (with a minimum <strong>of</strong> 4.0 in all<br />

subskills) or equivalent.<br />

Three term: IELTS 4.5 (with a minimum <strong>of</strong> 4.0 in<br />

writing) or equivalent.<br />

Depending on final degree choice, some students will<br />

require a higher entry score. Please contact the Centre<br />

for further details.<br />

Students who do not meet the minimum English<br />

language requirements can apply for English<br />

for <strong>University</strong> Study. Please see page 48 for<br />

Recommended study plan and progression route<br />

Students who meet the programme’s academic entry requirements but need to improve their English language pr<strong>of</strong>iciency before entering the International Foundation programme may<br />

be eligible to apply for an Extended Foundation programme, which includes additional English language preparation. Examples <strong>of</strong> these combined programmes are set out below:<br />
