Geography and location
• Located in eastern Germany on the
shores of the Elbe river and close to the
Czech border;
• Situated 200 km south of Berlin, 150
km northwest of Prague and 100 km
east of Leipzig;
• Germany’s 13th largest city;
• Capital of Saxony and second largest
city after Leipzig;
• Famous for it’s baroque-style
architecture, therefore often referred to
as ‘Florence of the North;
