Susan Longhurst BSc<br />
Research Associate<br />
Susan has a BSc in Law and Social Science from Brunel<br />
University. Previously based in the Department of<br />
General Practice at King’s <strong>College</strong> <strong>London</strong>, Susan<br />
conducted research investigating the recruitment and<br />
retention of GP registrars and was also involved with the<br />
formation of the GP co-operative, SELDOC. Susan<br />
joined the Department in 2005 to work on a needs<br />
review for a local hospice. She was also involved in the<br />
evaluation of Compass, a pilot telephone helpline,<br />
funded by the King’s Fund, targeting people in South<br />
East <strong>London</strong> who are living with a life-limiting illness and<br />
their carers. She is currently working on a study to<br />
describe the perceptions of dignity of older people living<br />
in care homes, along with a Cochrane systematic review<br />
focusing specifically on palliative care interventions for<br />
this target population group.<br />
Jennifer Lunan EN AAMS<br />
PA to Professor Irene Higginson and Dr Susan Hall<br />
Jenny qualified as an Enrolled Nurse and went on to<br />
qualify as a Medical Secretary following her nursing<br />
training, gaining an AMPSAR Certificate. Prior to joining<br />
the <strong>College</strong> Jenny worked as PA/Secretary in the Health<br />
Centre at University <strong>College</strong> <strong>London</strong> for three years<br />
before joining the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (now<br />
CRUK), firstly based in the Clinical Oncology Unit at<br />
Guy’s Hospital as PA to a Consultant Histopathologist<br />
and a Biochemist, and then at the ICRF Laboratories at<br />
Lincoln’s Inn Fields as PA/Floor secretary to Senior<br />
Scientists and researchers. She worked as Professor<br />
Irene Higginson’s PA since joining the <strong>College</strong> in 1999,<br />
firstly based at St Christopher’s Hospice, then moving<br />
into new offices on the second floor of the Weston<br />
Education Centre, then moving into newer offices on the<br />
third floor of the Weston Education Centre. Jenny, along<br />
with previous colleagues, was a founding member of the<br />
Administrative Team and, with the current members of<br />
the Administrative Team, supports the activity of the<br />
department.<br />
