HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE: LEVEL 2<br />
The BTEC Firsts in Health and Social Care have been developed to develop<br />
knowledge and understanding of requirements in the health and social care sector<br />
and focus on:<br />
• education and training for health and social care employees<br />
• providing opportunities for learners to gain a nationally recognised vocationally<br />
specific qualification to enter employment in the health and social care sector<br />
or to progress to higher education vocational qualifications such as the Edexcel<br />
Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Health Studies, Care or Early Years, or the<br />
GCE in Health and Social Care<br />
• providing opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques,<br />
personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working<br />
life<br />
• the role of the health or social care worker, their relationship with patients/<br />
service users and their responsibilities towards patients/service users and the<br />
wider health and social care sectors.<br />
