KASARAGOD, May 4, 2012: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) international general secretary Praveen
Togadia is scheduled to attend a ‘Hindu Shakthi Sanghom' convention here on May 6 even as the police
are contemplating whether to permit the convention in the communally sensitive town. Spiritual leaders
from Kerala and Karnataka are expected to take part in the meet, Hindu Aikyavedi State vice-president
Raveesh Thanthri Kandar told a press conference here on Thursday. A senior officer said ‘‘the police
have not decided whether to give permission to hold the meeting in view of the presence of Mr. Togadia,
who is known for delivering fiery and provocative speeches, in the communally sensitive town.” The
meeting is scheduled at the Thalipadappu ground at 3 p.m. The police said that if the meet was held
IUML, Sangh Parivar vitiating peace: CPI(M) (26)
KASARAGOD, May 6, 2012: Communist Party of India (Marxist) district unit secretary K.P. Sathish
Chandran has alleged that the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and the Sangh Parivar are bent upon
vitiating peace in the communally sensitive district. In the backdrop of the IUML leadership's resolve to
hold a march to the office of the Assistant Superintendent of Police at Kanhangad in protest against the
recent arrest of three youths for violating the Indian Army's dress code during a procession on the birth
anniversary of Prophet Mohammed and the Hindu Aikya Vedi's move to invite Vishwa Hindu Parishad
leader Praveen Togadia, who earned “notoriety” for delivering provocative speeches, the secular-minded
people should join hands to thwart the evil designs of the communal forces, Mr. Sathish Chandran said in
a statement here on Friday. The Bharatiya Janata Party and other Sangh Parivar outfits and the IUML
under the influence of outfits such as the Popular Front of India were making moves to destroy the
communal harmony in the district, he alleged. Mr. Togadia was scheduled to address a Hindu meet here
on May 6 amid reports that the police were making elaborate security arrangements, while the IUML was
planning to hold the protest march on May 15, the CPI(M) leader said. (The Hindu 6/5/12)
Sunday evening. He alleged that the political leadership of the country was encouraging unhealthy and
