IUML, Sangh Parivar vitiating peace: CPI(M) (26)
KASARAGOD, May 6, 2012: Communist Party of India (Marxist) district unit secretary K.P. Sathish
Chandran has alleged that the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and the Sangh Parivar are bent upon
vitiating peace in the communally sensitive district. In the backdrop of the IUML leadership's resolve to
hold a march to the office of the Assistant Superintendent of Police at Kanhangad in protest against the
recent arrest of three youths for violating the Indian Army's dress code during a procession on the birth
anniversary of Prophet Mohammed and the Hindu Aikya Vedi's move to invite Vishwa Hindu Parishad
leader Praveen Togadia, who earned “notoriety” for delivering provocative speeches, the secular-minded
people should join hands to thwart the evil designs of the communal forces, Mr. Sathish Chandran said in
a statement here on Friday. The Bharatiya Janata Party and other Sangh Parivar outfits and the IUML
under the influence of outfits such as the Popular Front of India were making moves to destroy the
communal harmony in the district, he alleged. Mr. Togadia was scheduled to address a Hindu meet here
on May 6 amid reports that the police were making elaborate security arrangements, while the IUML was
planning to hold the protest march on May 15, the CPI(M) leader said. (The Hindu 6/5/12)
