Meeting adjourned twice over RSS literature (26)
NEW DELHI: The House meeting of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation was adjourned twice on
Monday over the recent sale of RSS literature at the corporation headquarters. Opposition councillors
demanded an explanation from the commissioner over the permission given to Rashtriya Swayamsevak
Sangh volunteers to sell subscriptions of RSS mouthpieces Panchajanya and Organiser at the Civic
Centre. “The Civic Centre does not belong to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party alone. It is public property
where such activities are illegal,” said leader of opposition Mukesh Goel. Opposition members stepped
into the well of the House, raising slogans against the ruling party and the RSS, after the leader of the
House and the mayor questioned the logic behind raising the issue 10 days after the reported incident.
“The incident happened on July13. If you were seriously aggrieved by it, you should have given at least
one wriiten complaint against the issue,” mayor Meera Aggarwal said. “You are disrupting the House
proceedings just for the sake of doing it,” added the mayor. With the opposition leaders not relenting, the
mayor had to adjourn the House twice. (Deccan Herald 23/7/12)
Decision on Ram temple during Kumbh: Praveen Togadia (26)
ALLAHABAD: A decision on the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya will be taken during the
Mahakumbh as saints and office bearers of various Hindu organisations including the Vishwa Hindu
Parishad (VHP) will deliberate on the issue, said international working president of VHP, Praveen
Togadia. He was speaking to reporters here on Tuesday. Urging Hindu parents and guardians to enroll
their children above 18 years in VHP, Togadiya said a membership drive will begin from August 10. The
VHP aims to enroll around 11 lakh members in the drive, he said. On the rising number of suspensions of
VHP members, Togadiya said there is no provision for suspending or ousting members at VHP. However,
duties and reponsibilities may change from time to time if any complaints are received against a member
or office bearer. Earlier, Togadia visited Asthan village in Kunda tehsil under Pratapgarh district on
Tuesday and met the kin of persons lodged in jail in connection with the violence which took place few
days back in the aftermath of rape and death of a minor girl. Togadiya said VHP will look after the families
until the release of these persons from jail. The organisation would provide them all necessary assistance
and extend help in all form, said Togadia. (Times of India 25/7/12)
RSS supports Hindu Jagaran Vedikeon on rave party (26)
MYSORE: RSS leadership in Karnataka seems to have no qualms on the issue of supporting violent
opposition to the rave party at Mangalore on Saturday, but support comes only with a rider that the
volunteers would not have assaulted the women. Though the issue has it's own ramifications and
seriousness, the RSS leadership is unperturbed and it's leaders feel that the issue whether women
should participate in such rave parties needs a debate on larger scale. Talking to TOI a RSS spokesman
who initially was on record to say various things on the issue later does not wanted him to be quoted for
the reasons best known to him. Admitting Hindu Jagaran Vedike as one of the frontal organizations of the
RSS like BMS and ABVP , spokesman said RSS is against rave parties , but it condemns the attack on
the women involved in the rave party. But it does not mean RSS supports the rave parties, he clarified. It
is a fact that HJV volunteers have attacked the women participating in rave party, but RSS demands a
debate on the issue of rave parties, he said wanting to know why the girls hid their participation in the
rave parties to their parents." It goes to indicate that there is something amiss in the issue and rave
parties" he said and added: RSS is against indecent culture of rave parties which are against the tenets of
Hindutva which stood for decency and respect. In reply, the spokesman said girls and women in the guise
