Non bailable warrant issued against Samajwadi party MP in Babri mosque demolition case (26)<br />
LUCKNOW: In a major embarrassment for the Samajwadi Party (SP), the special CBI court in Lucknow<br />
hearing the Babri mosque demolition case has issued non bailable warrant (NBW) against mafia-turnedpolitician<br />
and SP MP from Kaiserganj, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, for his continues non presence in the<br />
court during the trial. Singh is not only accused in Babri mosque demolition case but has also been jailed<br />
in the past under Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) for alleged links with<br />
underworld don Dawood Imbrahim. The court issued NBW against Singh along with former Shiv Sena<br />
MLA Pawan Pandey, who has also failed to present himself before the court during the trial. A law<br />
graduate from Faizabad's Saket University, Sharan was active in student politics and has today has over<br />
40 criminal cases against him in police record. The cases include murder, attempt to murder, extortion,<br />
rioting, firing at the police station, carrying illegal arm and, dacoity among others. He also manager of<br />
around 40 colleges imparting higher and professional education in various parts of Uttar Pradesh (UP).<br />
He won Lok Sabha elections four times -- in 1991 (Gonda), 1999 (Gonda) and 2004 (Balrampur) on the<br />

Sevaks to demolish the Babri mosque. He has also been accused of giving shelter to some Kar Sevaks<br />
during the movement and facilitating their journey to Ayodhya. Riding on the Ram wave, Sharan entered<br />
Parliament on a BJP in the 1991. Singh was made accused by CBI along with senior Shiv Sena,VHP and<br />
BJP leaders in Babri mosque demolition case. In July 2008, Singh defected to SP and supported the<br />
