9 This course supports language development through 8 th Grade 8 th Grade<br />
technical writing, media literacy, and informal Teacher Language Arts<br />
presentations. The course is based on world literature Recommendation Teacher<br />
selections, stressing genre and vocabulary, and an<br />
aesthetic response to poetry. Students study grammar,<br />
mechanics, and usage through literature and the writing<br />
process. Students take an End-of-<strong>Course</strong> Test at the<br />
completion of this course.<br />
9 This is a rigorous, accelerated, and enriched literature 8 th Grade 8 th Grade<br />
and composition course designed to challenge students’ Teacher Language Arts<br />
creative and critical response to text. The course Recommendation Teacher<br />
supports language development through technical<br />
writing, media literacy, and informal presentations. It is<br />
based on world literature selection, stressing genre and<br />
vocabulary, and an aesthetic response to poetry.<br />
Students study grammar, mechanics, and usage through<br />
literature and the writing process. The class engages in<br />
the shared inquiry method of discovery through the<br />
Junior Great Books program. Students take an End-of-<br />
<strong>Course</strong> Test at the completion of this course.<br />
10 World literature, vocabulary, and persuasive writing are<br />
central to this course, which includes the study of<br />
grammar, mechanics, and usage in the context of<br />
writing assignments. A short paper gives attention to<br />
controlling idea, supporting evidence, organization,<br />
style, and MLA format.<br />
