45.07110 World Geography 9-12 This ½ unit course examines major trends in modern global geography and analyzes the political, social, economic, and cultural characteristics of modern societies. Students will evaluate current issues in global policy and diversity awareness. This course integrates and reinforces map-reading skills, critical thinking skills, and social science research skills. It is recommended that students sign up for this course with Current Issues. 45.01200 Current Issues 9-12 This ½ unit course analyzes current issues, influences related to these issues and how decisions are made concerning these issues. The course also integrates and reinforces social studies skills. It is recommended that 45.05600 Individual and the Law students sign up for this course with World Geography. 10-12 Individual and the Law analyzes the foundations and functions of the American legal system. This course examines types of laws, the individual’s relationship to the law and major court decisions, and integrates and reinforces social studies skills. 45.03100 Sociology 11-12 Sociology uses a macro-approach perspective to investigate human behavior, the individual in relationship to groups, social stratification, social movements and collective human actions. One will explore political science theories, racial and ethnic developmental theories, and global population growth and control strategies. It explores the impact of social institutions such as family, education, religion, economics, government, and sports have on the individual.
