61.04200 Latin II 9-<strong>12</strong> Latin II enhances level-one skills and provides<br />
opportunities to translate longer, more challenging edited<br />
passages. This course presents more advanced grammatical<br />
structures. Students continue their study of Roman<br />
customs and daily life with a more intensive emphasis on<br />
how Latin and Roman civilization have influenced<br />

10-<strong>12</strong> Students in the advanced levels of Latin will read and<br />
translate selected passages from the works of Rome’s most<br />
influential authors. These authors include Caesar, Cicero,<br />
Pliny, Ovid, Virgil, Horace, and Catullus. Each level will<br />
focus on one or two of the authors listed above. The<br />
courses also explore the political, social, and economic<br />
characteristics of Rome during the late Republican period<br />
and early Imperial period.<br />
