Earth’s landscapes, ecology and resources. Major
concepts include: Earth’s origin, composition and
structure; plate tectonics and the rock cycle;
landscape evolution; geologic hazards such as
volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis; sedimentary
environments; geologic time and correlation; Earth
and life history; life-environment relationships;
hydrological cycle; insulation and global heat
distribution; weather and climate; matter/energy
cycle; mineral and fossil fuel resources.
40.01100 Physical Science 10 Physical Science is designed as a survey course of
chemistry and physics. This curriculum includes the
more abstract concepts such as the conceptualization
of the structure of atoms, motion and forces, and the
conservation of energy and matter, the action/reaction
principle, and wave behavior. Students investigate
physical science concepts through experience in
laboratories and field work using the processes of
inquiry.
40.08200 Physics Honors 11-12 Physics is a laboratory based course which uses
science process skills in studying the following
topics: laboratory safety, basic mechanics (linear
motion, Newton’s Law, static forces, circular and
angular motion, conservation of momentum and
energy, applications of basic mechanics), kinetic
theory (phases of matter, information retrieval),
thermodynamics, (characteristics, conservation),
wave mechanics (general properties, sound, light,
applications of wave mechanics), electricity
(electrostatic, direct current, magnetism, alternating
currents, applications of electricity), particle physics
(quantum theory, sub-atomic and fundamental
structure, applications of particle physics), reference
40.08410 Advanced Placement
Physics C:

12 AP Physics C: Mechanics provides instruction in each
