Institute of Housing & Mobility Challenges facing the EDS industry in Canada's urban centres Appendix 2: Urban/Transportation Planner Survey form Hello (name of recipient): My name is Mateen Mahboubi and I am completing research at Ryerson University on the subject of courier and express delivery in Canadian urban cores and would like to request your time in completing this survey. We hope that this research can help to point out and address the challenges facing this industry in Canada. The focus of this research is courier (i.e. FedEx and UPS) and express delivery (i.e. bicycle messengers and one man operations) businesses. We are currently not looking at regular freight or standard mail deliveries. If you could please read over the survey and answer any questions you can, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. 1. Approximately how many courier companies operate in your city? 2. How many express delivery businesses operate in your city? 3.a) On average, how many packages/parcels are delivered during a weekday in your city by these forms of delivery? 3.b) How many in the downtown core? 4. Do you provide for the special needs of Express and Courier deliveries within the downtown core using any of the following methods? Please explain. - Dedicated Loading bays - Dedicated Parking areas (on or off street, for free or for charge) - Dedicated right of way 5.
