Summary: Human life is gentle, and the bonds we share with other
people bring warmth to our lives. Ex-opera singer, 75-year-old Hiro
Yamashita, suffers from dementia. Whether in his room or out on the
street, he spends his days wandering around singing, with all the
energy he can muster. The anguish and conflict created by this
awkward situation that is marring his son, his daughter-in-law and his
grandchildren, comes to a point they can not tolerate any longer, and
they make a decision: namely, to abandon him in front of
“Obandegansu”, the group home in Iwate. Hiro is left standing there
holding a letter: “Please take our grandfather. While he is with us, our
house is being destroyed, and at this rate our family will disintegrate.”
This drama about regeneration and connecting with people who have
kind hearts, develops with the Obandegansu group home and the
