They suggest that a well-developed test will not lose reliability if carefully thought out modifi cations are made. This makes sense, because the goal of the modifications is to maintain the test's essential measurement characteristics. The data on validity are presented in Table 5 on the next page. Most of these data are from ETS's recent research project on the performance of disabled students on the SAT. For the most part, the modified tests retain approximately the same validity for disabled applicants as the regular test - 9 -
