practice use a totally different process or procedure, to 'acconmodate' a<br />
visually oriented procedure is just not appropriate.<br />
Our recommendation in situations like this is to waive that part <strong>of</strong> the<br />
test, and to rely on the probationary period for evaluation. This is not a<br />
solution that we like — and it is a solution that has been attacked by the<br />
National Federation for the Blind — but we do not see a viable alternative.<br />
This solution is used largely in those testing situations where highly speeded<br />
materials are used to evaluate basic abilities such as perceptual speed and<br />
accuracy.<br />
