PRESIDENT’S
MESSAGE
Dear Members
I would like to thank fellow members once again for their unwavering support
at the 95th Annual General Meeting, and take this opportunity to announce
that the Resolution to carry out Phase 3 of the Club’s redevelopment project
and the renovation of Man Zhu Café and Three Bars was passed. I am pleased
to welcome the office bearers for the term 2010/2011. The Management
Committee will continue to work together to further improve the Club and
maintain its standing as a premier Club.
On 11 June, there were articles published in The Straits Times and Lianhe
Wanbao relating to the expulsion of a Club member. In response to this matter,
the Management Committee has issued a detailed clarification, which has
been inserted in this newsletter for members’ reference. The insert contains
events that took place prior to the publication of the articles and points that
will help clear any doubts that members may have. Hence, I hope members
would spare some time to read the insertion.
On a lighter note, I am pleased to announce the launch of the debut issue of
eFreestyle on the Club’s website in July this year. In line with the Club’s “Go Green” theme for the year, eFreestyle
is an online newsletter, an initiative to help conserve the environment, and to reduce the Club’s operating
expenses. With this in mind, members can choose to receive only one copy of the magazine per household, or
opt out from receiving the hard copy altogether. To do this, simply fill in the form that comes together with this
issue and return it to the Club.
Meanwhile, we are working towards an electronic means of communication which means that in the near future,
members will be able to receive Club news and activity updates via email. To enable us to do this, we urge members
to update their details using the “Membership Register Updating Form” obtainable from the Club’s website.
With health issues on the rise, the Sports & Lifestyle department has lined up not only physical activities, but
also educational talks on health matters. The “Preventing and Beating Osteoporosis” workshop is organised
especially for ladies, alongside the Enzyme Nutrition Health Talk and Chiropractic & Ergonomics and Chiropractic
for Children Talk.
For the energetic and restless, there is an all-new Mixed Dance Class that comprises of Belly Dancing, Bollywood,
Hip Hop and Salsa all in one class. For those who are relatively new to meat cuts, take note of the two interesting
workshops where Chef Roy returns to educate members on the choice of beef and pork cuts. The long-awaited
Creative Painting class is also back to hone the creativity of kids and youths. Parents can also enrol their kids in the
“Hands-on Finance Education” workshop to start them early on the topic of financial planning.
Coming 9 August will mark Singapore’s 45th National day, the Management Committee and Club’s administration
congratulate all Singaporeans on the country’s 45 years of nation building!
Shalom and God Bless,
Edwin Lee
President
