S&S ‘Super Stock ’ Head Kits<br />

The high-quench combustion design and matched piston<br />

dome not only increase flow, but provide excellent flame<br />

travel which results in a more efficient and cleaner burn of<br />

the air/fuel mix. Therefore, a dual spark configuration for<br />

normal operation is not needed. The matching forged pistons<br />

that come with the S&S cylinder head package are complete with rings, wrist pins<br />

and wrist pin keepers. A special intake port and manifold design incorporates a directional<br />

vane, located in the floor of the port, that improves air flow <strong>by</strong> dividing and routing<br />

the air around the valve stem and guide. The manifold will accept 17/8" S&S, Bendix,<br />

Keihin (except CV) and other performance carburetors with 2 bolt flange-style mount.<br />

The different shape of the exhaust port also aids in the intake and expulsion processes<br />

and any exhaust system that can bolt up to stock heads will fit on the S&S heads because<br />

the exhaust port is located in the same position as stock. The valve train components are<br />

designed for use with cams with lifts to .570" and feature an inner flat wound damper<br />

spring designed to eliminate damaging vibration.<br />

“Super Stock” heads are sold as a complete system including pistons with rings, wrist<br />

pins and keepers, intake manifold with O-rings and flanges and fully assembled heads<br />

with valves, springs, collars and keepers all designed and readily bolt-on to fit like other<br />

stock components on Evolution ® Big Twin models 1984–up (cylinders and flywheels<br />

are sold separately). Fits Evolution ® Big Twin models 1984 thru 1999 with stock (41/4")<br />

stroke and stock (31/2") bore. 10.1:1 compression ratio.<br />

Bolt-on heads that accept all stock components (except intake<br />

manifold). When used with Original Equipment pistons, TDC<br />

lifts up to .186" for intake and .179" for exhaust. Can be used<br />

without additional valve pocket clearancing. Valve pocket<br />

machining will be required for higher TDC lifts or if the heads<br />

are decked. Available with natural or black wrinkle finishes.<br />

S&S ‘Super Stock ’ Cylinder Heads for Shovelhead Models<br />

S&S starts with the same high grade materials developed for air cooled aircraft engines.<br />

Machined using state-of-the-art CNC machines to ensure consistent quality. Heads are dimensionally<br />

the same as stock heads for bolt on installation. Fully compatible with OEM exhaust and<br />

intake manifolds clearance problems are nonexistent. Slightly different intake and exhaust port<br />

shapes typically yield a flow increase of 10 CFM. Complete assembled heads include S&S .550"<br />

lift springs, 1980 thru 1984 style cast iron valve guides and seals and collars and keepers. Includes<br />

all necessary gaskets and hardware. Installation of rocker box assemblies (not included) is done<br />

using hex cap screws provided. Available in stock bore with single plug and 35/8" bore with<br />

single or dual plugs.<br />
