Marketing and Promotion<br />
Raising the profile of the library service, through the<br />
website, press releases and local radio continued to be a<br />
priority in 2010.<br />
Book clubs were facilitated by the libraries in Birr,<br />
Clara, Edenderry, Kilcormac and Banagher.<br />
The library website was updated on a daily basis to<br />
raise awareness of all activities in the library.<br />
4. Review of library services to included opening hours,<br />
staffing levels and evaluation of services based on<br />
budgetary cuts and non filling of staff vacancies.<br />
5. Application for funding to SEAI for energy funding to<br />
assist in reducing energy costs in 5 libraries.<br />
6. Continue with Health and Safety works – funding<br />
dependent.<br />
7. Continue to focus on literacy and provide quality book<br />
and media materials to library users.<br />
8. Improve e audio and e book material.<br />
9. Provide online learning in four full time libraries.<br />
10. Provision of a user friendly 24 hour web library.<br />
11. Promote services to children and young people.<br />
12. Continue to develop linkages and collaborative<br />
approaches to providing services.<br />
Priorities for 2012<br />
1. Completion of Tullamore Central library and<br />
Headquarters refurbishment project including<br />
financial management, stock selection, security<br />
tagging & fit out.<br />
2. Progress capital funding application to the<br />
Department of the Environment, Community and<br />
Local Government for mobile library service in<br />
2012.<br />
3. Progress capital funding application to the<br />
Department of the Environment, Community and<br />
Local Government for refurbishment/new library in<br />
Edenderry for capital funding programme 2014-<br />
2016.<br />
