Birr is the largest town in South-West <strong>Offaly</strong>. Birr,<br />
originally a monastic settlement founded by St Brendan<br />
in the 6 th century has seen continuous habitation &<br />
development & is well known for its Georgian<br />
architecture. The urban district of Birr comprises<br />
approximately 1500 acres & has a population of approx<br />
4,000.<br />
The Town <strong>Council</strong> is involved in a broad range of service<br />
provision including Housing, Roads and Car Parks,<br />
Planning and Recreation, Leisure and Amenity facilities.<br />
