Rural Water Programme<br />
Rural Water Programme Allocation for 2011 was:<br />
Interim Works on ECJ Schemes: € 50,000<br />
Connect to Public Main: € 0<br />
Take Over by Local Authority: € 35,000<br />
Upgrade: € 550,000<br />
New and Extensions: € 100,000<br />
Small Public Schemes: € 441,000<br />
€ 1,176,000<br />
The full allocation was expended in 2011.<br />
The <strong>Council</strong> processed approximately €450k in subsidies<br />
to Group Water Schemes in 2011, and it is expected that<br />
a similar figure will be paid in 2012. A total of over €23K<br />
will be paid in well grants in 2011.<br />
All payments in respect of well grants and subsidy<br />
payments are recouped from the Department of the<br />
Environment, Heritage, and Local Government on a<br />
quarterly basis.<br />
Priorities For 2012<br />
1. Maintain Current Water Quality Standards in both<br />
Public & Group Water Schemes. Further Develop<br />
remote monitoring of plants & Networks to achieve<br />
operational efficiencies and early response to quality<br />
and mechanical/electrical problems<br />
2. Further Reduce Unaccounted for Water through<br />
increased monitoring of customer side leakage and<br />
network upgrades.<br />
3. Achieve Compliance with Wastewater Discharge<br />
Licenses.<br />
4. Progress Watermain Rehabilitation Contracts under<br />
WSIP.<br />
5. Progress Clara Wastewater Treatment Plant<br />
Upgrade.<br />
6. Progress Improvements to Tullamore WSS.<br />
7. Complete Tullamore Wastewater Treatment Plant<br />
upgrade.<br />
8. Optimise Small Schemes Allocation under RWP.<br />
