Although the state of Alaska includes Arctic areas it is not a common access point or area<br />
for polar expeditions. Arctic Alaska is separated from the remainder of the State <strong>by</strong> the<br />
Brooks Range.<br />
Travel <strong>by</strong> air is a way of life in the largely roadless Alaska. Alaska Public Lands<br />
Information Centre in Anchorage can supply listings of reputable air taxi operators in the<br />
state. Alaskan Division of Tourism in Juneau produces an annual “Travel Planner” with<br />
information on Adventure outfitters in Alaska.<br />
