effectively by evaluating research findings through various sources <strong>to</strong><br />

determine their relevance and application <strong>to</strong> nursing practice.<br />

8. Apply appropriate theory, practice, and research in health promotion and in<br />

planning care for complex client situations.<br />

9. Incorporate socio-cultural, ethnic, spiritual, and other unique individual<br />

considerations in<strong>to</strong> client care.<br />

10. Evaluate and use the concepts of nursing theory and appropriate research<br />

findings for evidence-based nursing practice.<br />

11. Apply effective communication techniques <strong>to</strong> professional relationships,<br />

teambuilding, and client care.<br />

12. Use media resources and information technologies <strong>to</strong> enhance professional<br />

practices derived by accessing, retrieving, and organizing information<br />

acquired through various technological avenues throughout the program.<br />

As the first students will be enrolled in the fall 2008 term, performance data is not<br />

yet available on these outcomes. However, the <strong>to</strong>ols and processes <strong>to</strong> collect and analyze<br />

these outcomes have been established. (See Appendix I for a comprehensive overview of<br />

the evaluation <strong>to</strong>ols and processes; also see the evaluation plans and instruments in the<br />

onsite resource room.)<br />

Key Element I-B<br />

The mission, goals, and expected outcomes of the program are reviewed periodically and<br />

revised, as appropriate, <strong>to</strong> reflect professional standards and guidelines.<br />

As part of the self-study process, the mission, goals and expected outcomes of the<br />

program were reviewed by faculty, with an eye <strong>to</strong> the professional nursing standards and<br />

guidelines in the Essentials. Additionally, the NWFSC program mission, goals and outcomes<br />

were compared <strong>to</strong> those espoused by other quality <strong>BSN</strong> programs. As a result of this effort, the<br />

original program outcomes associated with the UWF Cooperative <strong>BSN</strong> <strong>Program</strong> were revised<br />
