<strong>RN</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>BSN</strong> <strong>Program</strong><br />

The mission of the <strong>Northwest</strong> <strong>Florida</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>College</strong> Bachelor of Science in <strong>Nursing</strong><br />

<strong>Program</strong> is <strong>to</strong> offer dynamic, comprehensive and innovative educational experiences<br />

that will enable students <strong>to</strong> expand their nursing knowledge and enhance their<br />

professional skills <strong>to</strong> meet the health care needs of the community.<br />

<strong>RN</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>BSN</strong> <strong>Program</strong> Goals<br />

1) Provide students with an expanded knowledge base and broader skill sets <strong>to</strong> meet<br />

future career demands.<br />

2) Advance the use of the nursing process <strong>to</strong> promote health, prevent disease and<br />

enhance the holistic health and well-being of diverse individuals, groups and<br />

communities.<br />

3) Further student scholarship in evaluating evidence-based research <strong>to</strong> determine its<br />

efficacy and applicability <strong>to</strong> nursing practice.<br />

4) Expand students’ use of critical thinking skills <strong>to</strong> assess, analyze and evaluate<br />

teaching/learning strategies and decision-making processes.<br />

5) Use critical thinking <strong>to</strong> influence health care decisions of clients, groups, families<br />

and communities within the societal context.<br />

6) Provide a foundation of continued accountability for practice that is based on sound<br />

ethical-legal principles and contemporary standards of professional nursing.<br />

7) Promote the resolution of complex health care problems by serving as managers,<br />

advocates, leaders, and members of the nursing profession when working with<br />

clients, groups, families, communities and health care team members.<br />

8) Encourage students <strong>to</strong> continue lifelong learning <strong>to</strong> enhance personal and professional<br />

development.<br />
