Faculty outcomes demonstrate achievement of the program’s mission, goals, and expected<br />

outcomes and enhance program quality and effectiveness.<br />

As illustrated by Appendix J, 100% of program faculty members meet or exceed the<br />

qualifications established by the college and the SACS Commission on <strong>College</strong>s. (Also see<br />

curriculum vitae in the onsite resource room.) Faculty are members of college standing<br />

committees and numerous professional organizations including: the American Heart Association,<br />

<strong>College</strong>-wide Council, and American Nurses Association which provides them with access <strong>to</strong><br />

community resources and helps <strong>to</strong> set an exemplary standard of community involvement and<br />

service for students ( see faculty curriculum vitae found in onsite resource room). In addition,<br />

the following summary of the significant accomplishments the program faculty members have<br />

achieved over the past academic year illustrates an ongoing commitment <strong>to</strong> service, scholarship<br />

and professional growth.<br />

• Two faculty members worked with local doc<strong>to</strong>rs and health practitioners <strong>to</strong> establish the<br />

Crossroads Free Medical Clinic, which opened in 2007.<br />

• One faculty member serves on the Board of Direc<strong>to</strong>rs for the Crossroads Medical Free Clinic<br />

and directs all clinical services for Crossroads.<br />

• The <strong>Program</strong> Direc<strong>to</strong>r successfully completed the two-year <strong>Florida</strong> Community <strong>College</strong><br />

Leadership <strong>Program</strong>, sponsored jointly by the college and the FLDOE Chancellor for<br />

Community <strong>College</strong>s.<br />

• One faculty member completed 21 out of 27 credits <strong>to</strong>ward satisfaction of her A<strong>RN</strong>P<br />

certificate in Adult Health through the University of South Alabama.<br />

• One faculty member presented her scholarly report, Iron Curtains of the Heart: Adoption,<br />

and Attachment Disorder, at the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society 19 th International <strong>Nursing</strong><br />

Research Congress: Globalization of Research Through Technology, Sun-Tec Center,<br />

Singapore in the summer of 2008.<br />

• One faculty member completed 15 out of 37 credits <strong>to</strong>ward the Doc<strong>to</strong>r of <strong>Nursing</strong> Practice<br />

degree from the University of South Alabama.<br />

• The Associate Dean presented portions of the curriculum at the NCLEX Review course for<br />

Rinehart and Associates.<br />

• Two Adjunct Faculty <strong>to</strong> the program attained Certification in <strong>Nursing</strong> Education (CNE)<br />

through the National League for <strong>Nursing</strong>.<br />

Activities such as the above ensure that the faculty members are able <strong>to</strong> draw from current<br />

real-life experiences, scholarly research, and professional practice during class presentations.<br />
