Market Headed for the
$1 Billion Mark
One of the few markets considered immune from
the general economic downturn is deep packet inspection,
says a report from Light Reading Insider.
Why do network operators need DPI and DPC (deep packet
capture) to deliver next-gen services Analyst Simon Sherrington
says, “DPI looks as if it has the potential to become a
core technology in next-gen networks, underpinning service
creation and delivery, security and operations management.
DPI has the potential – if operator behavior is appropriate
and enables positive regulatory frameworks to emerge – to
enjoy widespread, if not near universal, deployment.”
Sherrington says:
• Worldwide revenues for DPI products will reach the $1
billion mark by 2012.
• Vendors are changing their product positioning to promote
