Holidays<br />

Regular, salaried, contracted, full time employees and part time employees working<br />

more than thirty-five (35) hours per week are eligible for paid holidays in each calendar<br />

year. To receive holiday pay, you must work the regular scheduled workday before and<br />

after the holiday, unless an exception is approved in writing by the principal.<br />

When a holiday falls on Saturday or Sunday, it is usually observed on the following<br />

Monday; however, the school may close on another day. Holiday observance will be<br />

announced in the school calendar. Non-contracted employees will be paid for any two<br />

recognized religious holidays. (Option to choose Islamic or non-Islamic religious holiday)<br />

It is a school policy not to approve time off before or after extended vacation or in the<br />

middle of two vacations. Administrative discretion may be applied on case by case basis to<br />

requests submitted because of emergencies.<br />

Sick/Personal Leave<br />

Paid Personal Time Off<br />

Sick leave is a form of insurance that is designed to provide a cushion for the inability to<br />

work due to illness. It is to be used when actually required to recover from illness or off<br />

the job injury. Personal leave may be used in the event of death, illness or other<br />

emergency in the immediate family.<br />

All salaried, contracted full time employees earn sick days at a rate of four (4) days per<br />

year. Unused earned leave may not be carried over to the next year and is not<br />

financially compensated at the end of the year. Contracted full-time employees are also<br />

allowed two (2) personal days per year. Personal days must be requested at least two<br />
