TROUBLESHOOTING<br />

This chapter helps you identify printer conditions and problems that you can<br />

often correct yourself.<br />

Remember that your printer is a highly sophisticated electronic device,<br />

which also contains high voltage inside. For that reason, only carry out those<br />

operations described in this chapter.<br />

CAUTION: Any attempt to carry out operations other than those described<br />

here may result in electric shock and/or damage to the printer.<br />

When carrying out any repairs or maintenance, always follow<br />

the instructions carefully.<br />

TROUBLESHOOTING<br />

Your printer is a reliable piece of precision machinery, which should not<br />

cause you any trouble, provided it is used and treated sensibly. However, the<br />

few elementary tips below should help you avoid having to make unnecessary<br />

service calls.<br />

Power switch is on, but power indicator is off<br />

Probable Cause<br />

Printer is not<br />

Make sure that the power cord is correctly connected.<br />

Verify that the power source works.<br />

Printer sounds as if it is printing but does not; Printing is weak<br />

Ribbon is jamming,<br />

twisted,or<br />

printheadshield.<br />

Adjustment<br />

lever is set<br />

incorrectly.<br />

I Action<br />

Make sure that the ribbon cartridge is correctly installed.<br />

Make sure that the ribbon is between the shield on the<br />

print head and the end of the print head.<br />

Replace the ribbon.<br />

Check the setting of the adjustment lever. Move the lever<br />

to a darker setting.<br />
