Pan for gold and minerals at 

The Last Straw Fall Event 

All Ages! 

Bring the whole family and experience bales of fun at the Gregg 

House Museum on Sunday, October 3 from 12N to 4:00PM. 

You can make a scarecrow, meet a bee keeper, see an 

awesome Raptor/bird of prey program, make rope, participate 

in a fun interactive music time, create some cool crafts and play 

some fun games. New this year, you can try panning for gold or 

minerals (nominal fee). We’ll show you the trick to guarantee a 

“find”! The Westmont Garden Club will host a bake sale with 

lots of yummy home-made goodies. Tour the museum and 

enjoy our scarecrow display along the museum garden fence. 

Most activities are free. The Garden Club of Downers Grove 

will help you make a great scarecrow for your yard. Fee of $8 

includes pillow case for the head, straw, wire, a wood stand, hay 

and some materials. Please bring clothes (pants, shirt) and any 

unique items you’d like to use to decorate your scarecrow. Items 

should be environmentally friendly (no perishable goods) and 

weather resistant. We have some extra clothes on hand to share.

Halloween Dance 

Ages: 6 th- 8 th grade 

Halloween is a holiday celebrated by activities such as 

trick-or-treating, costumes, ghost stories and jack-o-lanterns. 

Now we can add dancing and fun to that list of activities. Come 

to the Westmont Community Center on Halloween with your 

friends and show off your costume and dance moves. We will be 

having a costume contest for best dressed and most creative for 

the chance to win prizes. There is no better way to celebrate 

Halloween than with a dance, fun and prizes.

Haunted Forest Tour 

All ages welcome! 

Twin Lakes Woods will come alive for one very magical, 

mystical night! Narrators will tell you the story of the haunted 

woods as they conduct guided tours on hayracks. Don’t turn your 

back, as characters, ghouls and creatures will come alive before 

your very eyes! We will again offer our Merry Monsters Matinee 

performance from 5:30- 6:30 pm for the younger children. 

Each tour will last approximately 10 minutes, and tours will be 

ongoing so you may arrive at any time. Due to the popularity of 

the event, there may be a short wait. 

Note: Please park along 59 th St., at Twin Lakes Golf Club or the 

Twin Lakes Learning Center.

Halloween Happening! 

All Ages Welcome! 

We have a Halloween day planned for you that is filled with 

fun. There will be carnival games when our Community Center 

changes into a midway. Ghosts and Goblins can try their luck 

to win great prizes. Play as many times as you like. Bring along 

your monster appetite. Our concessions area will be serving a 

delightful monster meal. Everyone is invited to join the Parade of 

Costumes where there will be a drawing for prizes! Then, it’s the 

extraordinary show of mystery as you marvel at the magic and 

illusions of Paul Lee. With audience interaction, live animals, and 

can’t believe your eyes moments, you surely won’t want to miss 

this special Sunday event. THIS IS A FREE EVENT!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 

Ages: 5 years and up 

Bring your family and join us for breakfast and a movie as we watch Harry Potter and 

the Deathly Hallows at Hollywood Blvd. in Woodridge. See Harry Potter as you have 

never seen him before, in 3D. Everybody will take part in the breakfast buffet as well 

as get free popcorn and drink re-fills throughout the movie. Watching movies has 

never been better! The comfortable, reclining, leather chair and tables offer a superior 

theatre experience. Bring the whole family to see the movie that everybody has 

been waiting for. The movie will start at 10:00AM sharp, so please arrive on time. 

We will meet at the theatre. Registration deadline is November 21.

It was a busy summer season here at the Westmont Park District; we 

hope you got a chance to get out and enjoy your parks, take in a concert 

or movie at Ty Warner, or enroll your child in a great camp or event. 

The fun continues as we look to our fantastic fall programs and events!

The fall season doesn’t have to mean that your golf clubs get put into 

storage. The Twin Lakes Golf Club is the perfect 9-hole course for all 

golfers! Be watching for specials as we continue to celebrate 25 years 

of great golf and service to our residents and neighbors. 

We invite you to celebrate Halloween at our Haunted Forest Tour, 

Halloween Fun Fair and the Jr. High Halloween Dance. Details for 

these fall events can be found on the inside front cover of this guide. 

We are also pleased to let you know that The Holly Days Winter Festival 

will return; join us for Opening Ceremonies on Friday, November 26 

and help us kick off the month of wonderful holiday happenings!

Thank you, Chad Dyson! 

On May 28, we wished Chad Dyson the best of luck as he left the Westmont Park District for his next adventure; 

serving as the Superintendent of Recreation for the City of Iowa City, Iowa. Chad joined the Westmont Park District 

staff in February 2000 as the Athletic Coordinator. Just having graduated from the University of Iowa in December 1999, Chad 

was excited to begin his career in parks and 

recreation. In January 2004, he was promoted 

to Superintendent of Recreation and served in 

that position until he left for Iowa. During his 

ten years in Westmont, Chad also married his 

college sweetheart, Erin, became a father of 

two, earned his Masters Degree in Recreation 

Administration, served on the Westmont Youth 

Baseball Association Board and the Westmont 

Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau 

Board of Directors. 

All of us here at the Westmont Park District 

would like to thank Chad once again for his 

time, leadership, laughs, dedication to the 

field of parks and recreation, and of course, 

for bringing the pickles and rye bread to each 

Christmas luncheon. 

You’ll be missed!

The 16 Holly Days Winter Festival

will begin on Friday, November 26 in downtown Westmont. 

Holly Days Opening Ceremony 

Santa’s reindeer and the elves will land on The Westmont Centre lawn 

at 5:00PM and be available for pictures until 6:15PM. The Westmont 

High School Madrigals will be singing their favorite holiday songs 

in the Westmont Centre lobby from 5:30-6:00PM. The Frosty & 

Friends Parade will begin at 6:45PM and march down Cass Avenue 

from Chicago Avenue to Richmond Street. The parade will conclude 

with Santa’s arrival and the lighting of the Village of Westmont tree! 

Children of all ages can join Santa in the Westmont Centre afterwards 

for treats and a visit. Bring your family, friends and neighbors to help 

ring in the holiday season at the one and only Holly Days! 

Holly Days Giving Tree 

In the spirit of giving, the Holly Days Committee will create a Giving 

Tree at the Community Center for local families who need some 

extra help this season. Each star on the tree will represent a Westmont 

neighbor who could use your help. Please stop in, select a star, 

purchase a gift and know that you’ve helped make a neighbor’s holiday 

brighter. Stars will be available beginning November 10. Gifts should 

be returned to the Community Center no later than December 15. 

Gifts will be picked up by the families on Friday, December 17 at 

Westmont Centre, 1 S. Cass Avenue. 

Holly Days Food Drive 

On Sunday, November 21, from 12:00-2:00PM, the Holly Days 

Committee will be collecting non-perishable items to donate to local 

food pantries. Please bring your donations to Veterans Memorial Park, 

located behind the Community Center. All donations will be sent to 

The People’s Resource Center in Westmont. Help make the season 

brighter for others! 

Paws with Claus 


Bring your friendly, family pet and your own camera for a holiday 

photo opportunity with Santa Claus! Families are invited to visit 

with Santa and take a picture with Old Saint Nick. Pets will receive 

a small gift from the Man in Red while supplies last. All pets MUST 

be on a leash. New this year, you and your furry friend can join the 

caroling wagon ride around the park from 6:00-6:30PM! Wagon 

rides leave from the Senior Center entrance on Linden St.

5K Family Fun Run/Walk 


Participate with family and friends in our 5K Family Fun 

Run/Walk through the streets of downtown Westmont on 

Saturday, November 27! The race begins at 8:00AM on Cass 

Ave. in downtown Westmont. Participants may pre-register 

for the event; forms will be available at the Westmont Park 

District Community Center or online at www.signmeupsports. 

com. Pre-registration will be accepted until November 22. 

Race day registration begins at 6:30AM at the Westmont 

Centre, 1 S. Cass Ave. 

All pre-registered participants and the first 100 race-day 

registrants receive a t-shirt. Awards and refreshments will be 

given out at the completion of the race. All fitness levels are 

welcome to participate!

Business 

Decorating Contest 

Bring out your holiday best and enter your business in our annual Decorating Contest! 

On Tuesday, December 15, the panel of judges will travel through town between 

6:00 and 10:00PM to select the winners in each category. Entry forms are available 

at the Community Center and the Westmont Centre. Please feel free to nominate a 

festive Westmont business! Registration deadline is December 8. 

Phone Calls from Santa 

Santa is very eager to speak to all good little boys and 

girls before the big day. Have you been good If 

so, have Mom or Dad stop by the Community 

Center and fill out our very special form to 

send to Santa. He has set aside Thursday, 

December 16 to call all of the boys and 

girls. Calls will be made between 

5:30 and 8:00PM. Santa must have all 

forms by Tuesday, December 14! 

Santa’s Mailbox 

Mail your letter to Santa using our very special North Pole mailbox 

located in the lobby of the Community Center. Address your letter to 

Santa & Mrs. Claus at 1 N. Candy Cane Lane, The North Pole and the 

elves will make sure to get your letter to Santa. Be sure to drop your 

letter off by December 17 so Santa has plenty of time to reply during 

his busiest time of year. Don’t forget to include your address so Santa 

can write back! 

Season’s Splendor 

Saturday Nights 

Spend your Saturday evenings enjoying the holiday splendor at Veterans 

Memorial Park! Stop by the Westmont Park District Senior Center and 

visit Santa and the elves in his workshop, enjoy entertainment by local 

performers, have some refreshments, then head over to the Gregg House 

Museum Open House to view the holiday décor and displays. Don’t 

miss your chance to join us on a caroling haywagon ride around the 

neighborhood…bundle up and be ready to spread some holiday cheer!

Calling all die-hard golfers! Dress warm and prepare to challenge

Veterans Memorial Ice Rinks 

Bring your skates to Veterans Memorial Park this winter and enjoy 

some time on the ice! This year, we will be adding a second rink for 

ice hockey only. Ice rinks will be open from 10:00AM-10:00PM daily, 

weather permitting. A flag system will be used; a green flag means ice 

is open for skaters and a red flag means that the rinks are closed.

directions to prepare their royal icing in advance at home. All couples/

The Westmont Park District preschool offers developmentally appropriate programs in a fun, safe, nurturing 

(peanut free) environment for three, four and five year old children. The curriculum consists of group times, 

language, literature, art, math, science, dramatic play, healthy snacks, music and movement, indoor and outdoor 

play. Educational interactive materials and equipment are both offered to promote 

exploration and discovery which supports the growth and development of the whole 

child. All experiences are play based and designed to enhance the children creatively, 

intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically. 

Registration 

Parents are welcome to visit and observe a class at Twin Lakes Learning Center, located 

at 200 West 59 th Street in Westmont. For appointments or more information, please call 

the preschool at (630) 963-7538. A detailed parent handbook is available upon visitation 

and/or registration. There are still openings available for the four-year-old PM class 

and the Just Me Skool program for three-year-olds. Registration is only taken 

at the above location. Children must be three or four years old by September 1of the 

year they plan to attend class. All those enrolled must be fully toilet trained (no pull 

ups allowed) they must be able to separate from parent or caregiver in a timely manner 

and must be able to communicate their needs in English to the teaching staff for safety 

purposes.

This class covers the basics of T-Ball in a fun and safe environment where

Learn to skate at the Downers Grove Ice Arena through a variety of

eyewitness accounts, fingerprints, hair and fingernail samples, “blood”

Jennifer White 

Miss Jennifer is thrilled to be starting another season at the place 

she used to call her “second home.” It was here at the Westmont 

Park District she discovered her love for dance at the age of 5. 

She studied a variety of styles, including ballet, jazz and tap and 

was even a member of the Electric Star Dance Troup. She always 

enjoyed every minute of her time spent inside the studio. After her 

family moved away, she continued her dance training at a variety of 

locations throughout the Naperville area, training in ballet, pointe, 

Jazz, lyrical, tap and musical theatre. She also performed in theater 

productions in high school including “Robin Hood”, “The Hobbit”

Continuing her dance studies in college, she had the privilege of 

learning from Dance Loop Chicago member, Dmitri Peskov. She 

is also currently training in ballroom and Latin dance. Learning at 

a variety of locations and different teachers, no place ever felt like 

“home” the way the Park District did and is very excited to be a part 

of it again. Her main goal is for students to want to come in, want 

to learn, and have lot of fun the entire time doing it because “that’s 

really what it is all about.”

Jazz I 


Jazz is a fun, high energy style of dance that is a great workout,

The Electric Star Dance Troup is coming back to the Westmont Park 

District! The dance Troup is a dedicated class that works on all

Troup will perform around the community through the year as well

Biddy Basketball 

Ages: 1 st -8 th grades 

Come join the most exciting youth basketball league in the area. 

Biddy Basketball is offered to boys and girls in grades 1-8. This 

program stresses the fundamentals, skills and teamwork required to 

play the game of basketball. The boys and girls leagues are structured 

identically but conducted separately, except 1 st and 2 nd grade levels, 

which will play co-ed. Practices are held once a week at various local 

gyms with games being held on Saturdays. Game times and practice 

times are determined by grade levels and divisions of play.

boxes. Players are taught the basics of kicking, passing and dribbling. 

All participants will be notified by a coach of the days and times

Punt, Pass & Kick Competition 


The NFL Pepsi PUNT, PASS & KICK program is a national skills 

competition for boys and girls between the ages of 8-15 to compete 

separately against their peers. Established in 1961, the PP&K 

program is the oldest NFL Youth Football program. Girls and boys 

in four separate age divisions (8-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14-15) compete 

against each other in punting, passing and place kicking in a fun and 

engaging forum. The PP&K program is free to every youngster who 

wants to participate! With more than four million boys and girls 

from around the country taking part in the NFL Pepsi PUNT, PASS & 

KICK competition every year from July through January, it is one of

Tae Kwon Do

This class is designed to teach individuals ages 6 & up 

the physical and mental aspects of the Korean martial 

arts- Tae Kwon Do. The course will focus on selfdefense, 

forms, punching, kicking and mental 

training techniques designed to help 

an individual’s self-improvement.

history and terminology of Tae Kwon Do while

takedown and control opponents with Greco-Roman style wrestling

Muay Thai 


The basis for this program is the 700 year old national sport of 

Thailand, the powerful, yet beautiful, art of Muay Thai (“Thai 

Boxing”). Not only is Muay Thai considered one of the most effective 

combat sports in the world, it also provides it’s students with a very 

safe, but exhausting workout like no other. Muay Thai incorporates 

the use of feet, fists, shins, knees and elbows, combined in 

multifaceted combinations that produce fantastic results. Participants 

will partner up in this one hour class and practice a variety of skill 

development and conditioning drills utilizing kicking shields, thai 

pads, and heavy bags. There is no contact or sparring in this class.

Boxing Conditioning 


Train like a boxer! Wrap your hands, pull on those gloves, and get

Spend your evenings playing some recreational yet competitive 

softball at Ty Warner Park in Westmont. The Westmont Park District 

will once again be offering an opportunity for you to play competitive 

softball in your own backyard. The co-ed teams will consist of ten 

players on the field at a time with 5 woman and 5 men playing at all 

times. We provide game ball and official. The league will run on 

Thursdays with one hour games starting in August. $100 deposit is 

required at time of registration to hold your spot. Captains meeting 

will be in August. To qualify for resident status, your roster needs 

to have 50% of its players within Westmont.

elimination tournament. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is due at

Intermediate Yoga

newly installed professional outdoor ten station fitness center, a 

1 hour workout two times a week can produce amazing results. 

Without the need for additional equipment, body weight of the 

participant is all that is needed to gain the benefits of a cardio

You don’t have to be a Westmont Park District Fitness Club member 

to register for our fitness classes! Purchase a Passport to Fitness; with 

this Passport you are able to attend any qualifying fitness class at the 

Westmont Park District Fitness Club during the year. You do not have to 

register for any class, just bring your passport and have it hole-punched 

at the front desk. Aquacise, Zumba®, and Yoga at Community Center 

excluded. Class schedules are available at the Westmont Park District 

Fitness Club and the Westmont Community Center. 

You need your Passport before you can attend your first class. Passport 

must be shown at the front desk and punched each time that you attend 

class. Each participant must purchase their own individual Passport; 

sharing Passports is not permitted. Showers and lockers are available at 

the Westmont Park District Fitness Club. There are no refunds or carry 

overs. If your Passport is lost or stolen, it cannot be replaced, a new one 

must be purchased. Passports expire after one year.

CAUTION: In-line skating, skateboarding and biking are high-risk, 

recreational activities with inherent risks of serious injury. 

This facility is not supervised. Use at your own risk. 

FACILITY RULES 

In the event that rules are not being followed, the Westmont Park 

District may elect to temporarily or permanently close this facility. 

• Helmets are mandatory to use the facility. It is also strongly 

recommended that users wear other equipment, such as wristguards, 

elbow pads, knee pads, etc. 

• No use of the facility after 10:00PM. 

• Bike use is limited to BMX style bikes, no mountain bikes. 

• Metal bike pegs are not allowed. Plastic pegs or pegs with insulate 

sleeves only. 

• Scooters, other wheeled or sliding devices, and persons not skating 

are not allowed to use the skate equipment. 

• No personally owned apparatus, such as ramps, boxes, etc. may be 

brought into or used at the facility. 

• Be courteous of neighbors and other park users. Profanity and loud 

music is not allowed in or around the facility. 

• No tagging, graffiti, or stickers are allowed. 

• Food and glass containers are not allowed in the skating area. 

• Smoking is not allowed in the facility. 

• All users are responsible for inspecting equipment prior to use to 

ensure that no hazards are present. Do not use broken or wet 

equipment. Report any needed repairs to the Westmont Park District 

at (630) 963-5252. 

• The skate facility was built for the enjoyment of the community. 

Please respect and follow the rules for your safety and the safety of 

others. Keep the park safe; it belongs to you! 

• The Westmont Park District reserves the right to close the facility 

at anytime without advanced notice. 

• No trespassing during non-use hours or when the facility is closed. 


SEASPAR 

SEASPAR, the South East Association for Special Parks And Recreation, is a cooperative of Westmont 

Park District and ten neighboring communities. The association provides year-round recreation and 

social opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Our team of full-time therapeutic recreation 

professionals and trained part-time staff and volunteers lead programs that promote 

self-esteem, physical, social and recreational skill development, all in a fun 

learning environment. SEASPAR serves as an extension of 

each member community and is committed to providing 

comprehensive recreation opportunities for all of their 

residents. 

Inclusion assistance is provided by SEASPAR to those 

individuals who wish to participate in their home 

district program. When registering for a program, 

the park district or recreation department should be 

informed of any accommodations needed in order to 

successfully participate in the program.

Education & Scout Programs 

Calling all teachers, students and scouting groups! The Gregg House 

now offers programs for elementary school aged children that fulfill 

state standards. Programs are available September through May. 

Scout groups may also earn badges for local lore and local history. 

Programs that include a craft will require a small fee. Programs can 

be held at the museum or are offered as an outreach program. Please 

contact the museum for information and reservations. 

The Excelsior Experience (Grades 3-5) 

This hands-on, problem based architecture program is designed for 

grades 3-5 and meets state standards in math, social sciences and fine 

arts. Four components of the program include identifying common 

architecture features, creating a time line of local history, measuring, 

estimating, identifying geometric shapes, solving math problems to 

determine area, using building blocks to create patterns and learning 

about brick making. The length of the program is determined by the 

teacher and can range from 1 hour to half a day. 

Gregg’s Mystery Gadgets (Grades 2-5) 

We’ll try to identify various household items of the past and compare 

them to items used today. This program is available as an out-reach 

program. 

Rural Westmont (Grades 1-3) 

Learn about Westmont at the turn of the century (1900). Discover what 

life was like as a farmer, see different farm tools, and hear a story. Butter 

churning is optional. This program is available as an out-reach program. 

Optical Toys (Grades 2-5) 

Thaumatropes, Zoetropes and Kaleidoscopes. Let’s learn about 

persistence of vision, illusions of movement, angles, geometry and 

design. Create your own optical toy. Fee: $2 for materials. This is 

available as an out-reach program. 

Victorian Tea Party (Grades 1-5) 

Our costumed hostess will take us back to the late 1800s for an 

old fashioned tea party to discover what life was like in the grand 

Victorian times. Taste cucumber sandwiches and sip some lemonade. 

We’ll learn about good manners and parlor games that children played. 

We’ll also create a Victorian keepsake to take home! Please call to 

make a reservation. Registration will be taken at the Westmont 

Community Center for this program once your reservation is 

confirmed. Fee is $8 per child, minimum of 7 children. Girl Scout 

troops welcome! This is a great way to earn a badge. 

Annual Christmas Program (Grades K-5) 

December 

Christmas at the Gregg House changes each year to depict a different 

culture or time in history. Victorian, Colonial, Pioneer, WWII, and 

Christmas Around the World are just a few examples of the traditions 

we have celebrated. Local school children are invited to take part in 

these celebrations to learn more about our ancestors and holidays of 

the past. Visits include hands-on experiences and a craft. The annual 

holiday programs are approximately 30-45 minutes in length and are

Teddy Bear Tea Party 


It’s a well known fact that bears like parties! Bring your cuddliest 

teddy bear or stuffed animal friend to our special tea party. We will 

play bear games, hear bear stories, make some bear wear (take-home 

craft) for our teddy bear friends and learn more about the history of 

these popular toys. Since this is a party, we will enjoy some snacks 

and treats, too! For a Beary good time, join us today! Please preregister

Kris Kringle is ringing his bell looking for creative boys and girls 

to make holiday ornaments. We will turn Hershey kisses, cinnamon 

sticks, ribbon, beads and pipe cleaners into miniature mice, Santas, 

Christmas trees and other holiday ornaments. With the holidays just 

around the corner, we want to get a head start on decorating. These 

simple homemade ornaments make great gifts, too! Materials will 

be supplied. This is a drop in program. Allow 20-30 minutes. The 

museum will stay open longer today so you can stop by after school 

or bring your scout troop.

Newsletter 

“Young At Heart News”, the Senior newsletter, issued 

three times a year, gives you current information on trips, 

special events, services and programs. To cover mailing 

costs residents are charged $3 per year, non-residents pay 

$6 per year. Newsletters can be picked up free of charge at 

the community center or senior center. Subscriptions run 

from January to December. 

Both residents and non-residents of Westmont are 

encouraged to participate and are warmly welcomed at all 

activities and events planned for Seniors at the Westmont 

Park District. Wherever your interests lie, you will be sure

It is the intent of the Westmont Park District to make its facilities 

available to the public on a fair and equitable basis. The following 

procedures, guidelines and fee schedule will outline the necessary 

steps in regard to usage of facilities. Facility requests may be made 

in writing or in person at the Westmont Park District Community 

Center, 75 East Richmond Street, Westmont, IL 60559-1894. 

Requests should be made at least 1 month in advance of the activity. 

Requests should be signed by an adult 21 years of age or older who 

assumes responsibility for the activity. Fees are based on the facility, 

time and type of group or organization requesting the facility. Basic 

building hours are 8:00AM to 10:00PM Monday through Friday and 

9:00AM to 8:00PM Saturday and Sunday. Refunds for cancellations 

will not be given if requested less than 48 hours prior to the rental. 

All fees are payable in full, 7 days prior to the scheduled rental. For 

any rental requiring a fee, a minimum deposit of $50 will be required. 

No alcoholic beverages are allowed on Park District property. 

Category A Not-for-profit groups or organizations with a 

minimum of 50% residents of the Westmont Park District. 

Category B Private individuals or organizations from within 

the Westmont Park District boundaries. Not-for-profit groups or 

organizations with less than 50% residents of the Westmont Park 

District. All private groups must leave a $50 deposit.

Need that perfect supplement to a great picnic Get a picnic pack from the 

Westmont Park District and enhance your picnic, outing or get-together. Pack 

includes: equipment bag with 1 soccer ball, 2 softballs & 2 bats, 1 playground 

ball, volleyball, and 1 croquet set. A $50 credit card deposit is required to insure 

return of equipment in good order. You must reserve your picnic pack in 

advance. For weekend reservations, Picnic Packs are available for pick-up on 

Friday and must be returned the following Monday. A $2 late fee per day will be 

applied to all late returns. Available to Westmont residents only. 

Park rentals can be made at the Westmont Community Center up to 1 year in 

advance. Usage fee plus a credit card security deposit are required when a park 

is reserved. Outdoor athletic facilities may not be reserved more than 90 days 

in advance. All reservations for park facilities must be made in person. Only 

Westmont Park District residents can rent a park facility.

Westmont has been fortunate in that our citizenry has a noble history of being thoughtful 

of other park patron’s leisure time and safety. The Westmont Park District, therefore, has 

been able to establish a minimum number of park rules and regulations. Each of the 

following are especially important and are established in order to continue safe and fulfilling 

experiences while visiting your parks. For additional information concerning park policies, 

please contact the Administration Offices at (630) 969-8080. 

• Park hours are 6:00AM-9:00PM unless there is a Westmont Park District sponsored 

activity or posted otherwise at the park. 

• No motorized vehicles are to be taken into the parks or on the paths. 

• No golfing is allowed in the parks. 

• Dogs must be leashed. Owners are required to clean up after their dogs. 

• Fishing Policy: We practice catch and release at all ponds. 

• Please don’t feed the ducks or geese; your cooperation is appreciated in reducing 

the health hazards these birds present and in helping keep our parks safe and clean.

Procedures 

1. All Park District resident registration forms received by August 24 will be held and random 

ly processed as the first batch of registrations on August 25. All registration forms received 

on or after August 25 will be dated and randomly processed on a daily basis through 

September 2. Resident/Non-resident walk-in registration begins September 2. 

2. If a program chosen has an opening available, your registration is processed and a receipt 

confirmation will be mailed within approximately 5 working days. 

3. If programs chosen have reached maximum enrollment, your name will be placed on a waiting 

list, and you will be notified. Every attempt is made to accommodate the persons on these lists. 

Please be sure to read through the receipt message carefully for 

an explanation of your registration status.

Proof of Residence 

Policies set forth by the Westmont Park District 

Board of Commissioners define a resident as 

anyone living within the boundary of the 

Westmont Park District. Anyone working or 

operating a business within the Park District 

boundaries, but living outside the boundaries 

shall not be considered a resident. We don’t 

always recognize our neighbors; from time 

to time, we may ask to see proof of residence 

when you register for programs in person. All 

new residents must show proof of residency. 

Accident Policy 

The Westmont Park District does not provide 

medical insurance coverage for injuries suffered 

while participating in Park District programs, 

or while using park facilities. The Park District 

therefore, can assume no responsibility for 

personal injury while participating in recreation 

programs or while using park facilities.

Non-Resident Fee 

Part of the cost of programs is assumed with tax 

dollars. Therefore, those who are not residents of 

the Westmont Park District will be assessed a 

non-resident fee. Non-residents pay an additional 

50% per program. Preschool, Day Camp and 

Leagues may have different non-resident fee 

structures. See program for details. 

Registration Format 

Primary focus is on mail-in registration with a 

daily lottery system. After a two week period, 

over the counter registration will be accepted on a

Refund Policy 

A full refund will be issued if you are 

dissatisfied after the 1st class with the 

program or the program is cancelled by the 

park district. A completed Refund Request 

form must be submitted prior to the midpoint 

of the program or within five working days 

of a single meeting activity. This written 

refund request form will help us improve the 

service we provide. A refund will be issued 

when a completed Refund Request form is 

submitted five business days prior to the 

first class meeting and will be subjected to a 

$5.00 service charge. A prorated withdrawal 

refund will be made for participants who 

decide, for whatever personal reason 

(including injury or illness), that an ongoing 

program is not right for them. The prorated 

refund will be based on the number of 

classes that have occurred at the time the 

Refund Request form is received by the park 

district. The Superintendant of Recreation 

will consider exceptions to this policy due 

to other extenuating circumstances. The 

Refund policy excludes trip tickets, 

preschool and camp deposits and adult sports 

leagues. Please allow two weeks to receive 

your refund check in the mail.

Please read this form carefully and be aware that by signing this form and participating in the programs listed that you will be waiving and releasing all claims for 

injuries you or your children might sustain arising out of these programs. 

RELEASE: As a participant in this Westmont Park District program, I recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks of injury and I waive and relinquish 

all claims I or my children may have as a result of participating in this program against the Westmont Park District and its officers, agents, servants and employees. I 

further agree to indemnify, hold harmless and defend the Westmont Park District and its officers, agents, servants and employees from any and all claims sustained or 

caused by myself or my children arising out of, connected with, or in any way associated with the activities of this program.I give my child permission to participate 

in this program, and on the child’s behalf as parent and/or legal guardian I hereby waive, release and forever discharge any and all claims against the Westmont Park 

District or its commissioners, employees or volunteers for damages and/or injuries which may arise from my child’s participation in the program. Furthermore, I grant 

permission to transport my child anywhere on District property for conduct of the program for which my child is being registered. 

PHOTO POLICY: On occasion, the Park District staff may take photographs or video of participants in our programs or events or of people in our parks. Please be 

aware that these are for Park District use, most likely in future program guides pamphlets or for local Public Access TV. 

EMERGENCY TREATMENT PERMISSION: I understand that a minor may not be treated, even in an emergency situation, except when, in the opinion of the 

attending physician, life is in the balance. Consent of a parent or legal guardian is necessary for unmarried minors under 18. Written consent is required for all other 

treatment. Accordingly, as a parent and/or legal guardian, I do herewith authorize the treatment of the minor enrolling in this program in the event of a medical emergency. 

ACKNOWLEDGMENT: I have read and fully understand Registration Policies, the “Release and Hold Harmless Agreement”, and the “Emergency Treatment 

Permission”. This release and medical authorization form is complete and signed of my own free will even though I understand it is a requirement for participation in this program.

Westmont Park District Memorial Programs 

Memorial Tree Planting Program 

Trees can be purchased as a gift for a friend, for yourself or in memory of a loved one. A tree can also 

be purchased for a newborn to commemorate their birth year, and your family can watch as both grow 

through the years! 

All trees purchased through the Memorial Tree Planting Program consist of tree planting, the mounting 

of a permanent plaque and a certificate of planting issued to the donating party. Trees can be planted in 

the park of your choice and purchased at any time throughout the year; planting will be in spring and fall. 

Commemorative Brick 

& Park Bench Program 

The Westmont Park District offers a Commemorative Brick & Park Bench Program as a way to remember 

your cherished time here in Westmont or to remember and honor a loved one. 

These clay-fired bricks will be prominently placed at Ty Warner Park. Special requests cannot be granted 

for specific locations, colors or type styles; the brick color is selected by the Westmont Park District and 

each brick will be engraved with the same typeface. Orders will be accepted at any time and until 

available space sells out. Please note that orders received after May 1 will not be placed in the ground 

until Memorial Day of the following year. 

The Westmont Park District will work with you to determine a great space for your Commemorative 

Park Bench. Requests for a specific location may be made, but are not guaranteed. Have a favorite bench 

already in one of the parks Plaques can also be purchased and added to existing benches to remember a 

loved one.
