Speckled Jim
Meet the newest tweeter on Twitter –
although he tends to go “coo” rather than
“tweet”.
A couple of months ago, PPD Editor Aidan
Goldstraw discovered a rather unexpected visitor
in his garden – a racing pigeon which had been
blown off course.
The birdbrain was obviously exhausted, so Aidan
and his wife Vikki began feeding him peanuts – a
food to which he appeared curiously addicted.
Blackadder fans the Goldstraws promptly
dubbed him “Speckled Jim” and he became quite
the family pet.
“He doesn’t do much apart from go coo and
poo,” says Aidan, “but he is the perfect pet for
someone as essentially lazy as I am!”
With a bit of TLC (and several tons of peanuts),
Jim recuperated and began to fly for long periods,
although always “homing” Chez Goldstraw.
Then one day, a familiar face appeared on
Twitter with its maiden “tweet”. It just said: “Coo!”
Jim then spread his social networking wings to
Facebook.
“We’re not sure where he picked up his IT skills,”
Aidan added, “though I’m guessing he doesn’t
touch type with just six claws.”

Hello world! New arrivals make their entrance
Everybody say “aah”, now! Here are two new
arrivals for a couple of industry colleagues.
On the left is Isobel May, the second child for
Jeff Dutton of Sourcing City and his partner Clare
Edgar, formerly of Dowlis.
The newest member of the Dutton-Edgar clan
arrived on May 24 at 10.42am, weighing in at 7lb
14oz.
On the right is Harris, son of Total Merchandise’s
Jason O’Connor.
Harris made his grand entrance on May 10,
tipping the scales at a bouncing 8lb 10oz.
Mums and babies are all doing well – many
congratulations from us here at PPD, guys!
