Our flexible and responsive service offers evidence-based
assessment and interventions for young people who are
engaged in, or present significant risk of serious violence,
fire-setting and/or sexually inappropriate behaviour. Young
people who present with an emerging anti-social or
borderline personality disorder alongside their offending
behaviour are also seen by our service. We often treat
young people who have exhausted the resources of their
local CAMHS and still need assistance.
There is a high prevalence of
complex and persistent mental
health and social care needs among
children and young people in
contact with the youth justice
system (Youth Justice Board, 2011).
An estimated 25 to 81% of these
children and young people have
mental health needs (The Mental
Health Foundation, 2002), which are
often undiagnosed and untreated.
