Supervision<br />

We provide skilled supervision for practitioners using the FPM in their work,<br />

<strong>and</strong> managers implementing service redesign based on the approach. It is<br />

appropriate for frontline practitioners working directly with families, or for<br />

people who are acting as supervisors, facilitators or trainers. We can provide<br />

supervision on a one-to-one basis or in groups, in a face-to-face situation,<br />

telephone or video conference. This service may be commissioned by<br />

organisations or individuals <strong>and</strong> the content, length, number <strong>and</strong> frequency<br />

of sessions is negotiated to suit the needs of the participants.<br />

Consultancy<br />

We offer a range of consultancy options to organisations considering or<br />

already using the FPM in their work. Consultancy can encompass any area<br />

of implementation: application of family partnership to work, service structure,<br />

training, supervision, evaluation, research, integration <strong>and</strong> maintenance.<br />

Flexible packages are available to meet people’s needs.<br />

We provide an accredited 10-day course to prepare peer facilitators to be able<br />

to lead parenting groups using the Being a Parent approach. During the training,<br />

parent participants are introduced <strong>and</strong> participate in the Being a Parent<br />

programme, which covers key parenting topics including parent <strong>and</strong> child<br />

self-esteem, managing feelings, underst<strong>and</strong>ing behaviour, child-centred listening<br />

<strong>and</strong> play skills, setting limits <strong>and</strong> positive behaviour management. The participants<br />

then concentrate on the key knowledge <strong>and</strong> skills required to facilitate the Being<br />

a Parent course, such as the skills <strong>and</strong> qualities for supporting parents <strong>and</strong> their<br />

parenting skills, skills <strong>and</strong> methods for coping with children’s behaviour, group<br />

work theory <strong>and</strong> practice, <strong>and</strong> ethical issues in parenting programmes.<br />
