Supervision
We provide skilled supervision for practitioners using the FPM in their work,
and managers implementing service redesign based on the approach. It is
appropriate for frontline practitioners working directly with families, or for
people who are acting as supervisors, facilitators or trainers. We can provide
supervision on a one-to-one basis or in groups, in a face-to-face situation,
telephone or video conference. This service may be commissioned by
organisations or individuals and the content, length, number and frequency
of sessions is negotiated to suit the needs of the participants.
Consultancy
We offer a range of consultancy options to organisations considering or
already using the FPM in their work. Consultancy can encompass any area
of implementation: application of family partnership to work, service structure,
training, supervision, evaluation, research, integration and maintenance.
Flexible packages are available to meet people’s needs.
We provide an accredited 10-day course to prepare peer facilitators to be able
to lead parenting groups using the Being a Parent approach. During the training,
parent participants are introduced and participate in the Being a Parent
programme, which covers key parenting topics including parent and child
self-esteem, managing feelings, understanding behaviour, child-centred listening
and play skills, setting limits and positive behaviour management. The participants
then concentrate on the key knowledge and skills required to facilitate the Being
a Parent course, such as the skills and qualities for supporting parents and their
parenting skills, skills and methods for coping with children’s behaviour, group
work theory and practice, and ethical issues in parenting programmes.
