Treatment
Assessment involves face-to-face meetings with young people
and their families, leading to a formulation of diagnosis and a
treatment plan.
The extended and second opinion assessment involves a consultant
psychiatrist and another member from our team and includes liaison
with the young person’s school and any other professionals involved
in their care. This assessment may extend over two sessions.
This is a comprehensive assessment with two team members, the
young person and their family, with additional team members
behind a one-way screen, who contribute to the discussion,
formulation and treatment planning. This assessment may also
require additional structured assessments, e.g. psychometric testing,
the autism diagnostic observation schedule (ADOS) and may require
several meetings. It also includes discussions with the paediatricians
and liaison with the school. We provide a diagnostic formulation and
treatment plan.
Individual sessions are offered on a regular basis, in close liaison with
the person’s paediatric team.
