Working Fabrics
Storage mounts, moving mounts, dust-free storage, mannequins,
textile display... whatever you can think of, these “working fabrics”
are a great help. We offer a selection of various muslins, flannels,
stockinette and twill tapes. The muslin, flannel and twill are unbleached,
undyed, sizing-free and natural coloured. The stockinette is 100%
polyester snowy white.
Muslin 100% cotton muslin, unbleached and unsized, for textile
mounts, covering mannequins, internal forms, etc. Offered in two
weights: the lighter 68 square thread-count fabric has a very nice drape
similar to batiste, and is completely resin free; the heavier 200 square
thread-count fabric is a durable-press muslin similar to broadcloth. The
muslins are sold in 5 yard lengths.

Polyester Stockinette We now have 100% polyester stockinette.
We’re offering widths of 3”, 6” and 10”. The polyester offers more
slip than cotton or cotton/poly. The slip is good for use on mannequins,
as it helps ease the clothes onto the form. It stretches to about twice
its width. Sold in 25 yard long rolls.

Twill Tape A lovely unbleached, unsized 100% cotton twill tape, finer
and softer than others we’ve found. Very useful for making storage
mounts, for packing and shipping, and for a host of other installation
needs. Sold in 36 yard rolls (33m) and in four widths. Some rolls may
contain splices.

Flannel 100% cotton flannel, unbleached and unsized, for protective
padding or ‘tooth’ to help hold textiles of any size in place. Offered in
two weights, both of which can be glued or stapled to a wedge or tube
for textile positioning and protection from the substrate. The 4 ounce
flannel is double-napped (fuzzy on both sides), with a very nice tooth.
The 6 ounce flannel is single-napped (fuzzy on one side). It is almost as
thick as the 4 ounce flannel and should be used where more padding
is required. The napped side is heavier than the 4 ounce and provides
a better grab. The back side shows as a twill pattern. The flannels are
sold in 5 yard lengths.

Stitchery Tape
Carmac Stitchery Tape is a high
tack double sided tape with a
pH neutral adhesive. Ideal for
mounting delicate fabric and
needlework to mounting board,
foamboard or stretcher bars. Will
not bleed and virtually invisible through the finest fabrics.

Adhesive Velcro ® Fasteners
Nylon Velcro fasteners are both strong and versatile. Hook-and loop
design holds tight but is easily opened for re-positioning or access
to materials. Fasteners are backed with extra-strength permanent
adhesive with neutral pH level to prevent acid migration and damage to
valuable items. Available in 7/8” diameter round.

Orvus WA Paste
Recommended for cleaning fine textiles
and rugs of all compositions. Removes
common dirt and stains but not stubborn
stains. A neutral synthetic anionic
detergent (sodium lauryl sulfate), used
as a wetting, emulsifying, dispersing and
sudsing agent, readily soluble in hot or
cold water; free rinsing in either. Apply
in a concentration of 1%, well dissolved,
approximately one tablespoon to one gallon of water. Wash 2-3
times, rinse 2-3 times.
