Ethafoam ®
Ethafoam ® (formally made by Dow Chemical) and Cellu-Cushion ® are
Sealed Air’s brand names for their archival quality, polyethylene foam
products. Polyethylene is a tough, flexible thermoplastic resin which,
being inert and chemically stable, meets all preservation standards.
Easy to handle, cut, shape and form, these products are widely used in
protective packing of fine art and artifacts for both transportation and
storage. It can be carved to fit gaps or routed to create nests for packing
and storing. Trace outline of object and handcut the form out leaving a
notch for easy artifact removal.
If the foam is not thick enough, build it up in successive layers. Line
with acid-free tissue to avoid abrasion. Can be used as a drawer liner for
delicate artifacts. Absorbs energy but no water. Recyclable and reusable.

creating clean, precise cuts with no mess. An assortment of optional
blades allows you to sculpt and detail any type of groove. Perfect for
creating accurate foam cavities for even the most petite objects.
The 6” Copi Attachment is perfect for sculpting and shaping up to 5”
thick pieces of foam. Simply attach the Copi to the existing mounts of
the Tippi.

Rolling Sharpener
This handy little tool doesn’t have diamonds
but it could be worth it’s weight in gold. Ideal for
sharpening your Ethafoam knives. The knife fits in
the groove between the sharpening stone and
the metal edge (holding at a proper angle on
the blade). Then you just roll it back and forth
a couple of times on the work surface... repeat
with the blade’s other side and you’re done.
Nothing like sharp and easy.
