8) The Victim will receive ongoing support from Head of Year and counsellor
and
will be encouraged to stay in regular contact with counsellor to report how
things are going and what they can do to prevent being a victim in the future,
working on self esteem, image and confidence.
9) Parents of the victim and bully can also get support from Head of Year,
Counsellor and Head of Academic ICT , if needed.
10) The student may have their access to School computers restricted if involved
in cyber bullying.
Prevention
As and when appropriate, these may include:
• writing stories or poems or drawing pictures about bullying
• reading stories about bullying or having them read to a class or assembly
• having discussions about bullying and why it matters
• IB CAS project – peer education
• Involvement of USC, Head boy and Head girl to promote School motto
‘Respect for self, Respect for others’
• Bullying related issues in the Pastoral programme
• Safe and appropriate use of computers is included in the programmes of
Academic ICT, and teachers inform students of new technologies and
possible risk factors.
• Every student has to sign a Computer and Internet Access policy.
• Bullying related issues are included in other areas of the curriculum,
particularly drama
• The IB Learner Profile emphasises Inquirers, Thinkers, Communicators,
Risktakers,
Knowledgeable, Principled, Caring, Open-minded, Balanced and
Reflective learning.
• The PYP Learner Profile includes the IB Learner Profile and also attitudes are
an essential element. Students develop Tolerance, Respect, Integrity.
Independence, Enthusiasm, Empathy, Curiosity, Creativity, Cooperation,
Confidence, Commitment and Appreciation.
• Respect Week – awareness week.
• Staff are kept up to date with new technologies and possible risky situations.
• Regular articles to parents and School community via Touchbase about
bullying issues.
• Parents information evening about Cyber bullying.
