TEACHER RIGHTS<br />
401 FORMAL EVALUATION PROCESS (P.N. 2012)<br />
A. Purposes<br />
1. At the beginning of each school year, each teacher will be provided with comprehensive<br />
information regarding the philosophy and purpose of the evaluation process.<br />
2. Teacher evaluation will take place only when normal instruction (other than Section 401<br />
A3a through A3e, below) is expected to take place.<br />
3. Formal teacher observation will not take place on the following days. (However, these<br />
exclusions shall not be interpreted as allowing for less than normal instruction on these<br />
days.)<br />
a. The next workday following Christmas, Thanksgiving, or the Easter break.<br />
b. The next workday following an evening parent/teacher conference.<br />
c. The next workday following a teacher's absence from work due to illness unless<br />
timelines for evaluation cannot be met.<br />
d. Days in which the observation time is interrupted to the extent that class attendance<br />
is administratively reduced by fifty percent (50%) or more.<br />
4. The primary purpose of the evaluation procedure is to be used as a means for improving<br />
instruction.<br />
B. Formal Evaluation<br />
All teachers shall be formally evaluated based on continuous experience in the Norwayne Local<br />
Schools in accordance with the following provisions:<br />
